Do you ever see a positive about Albion that you’re not instantly determined to turn into a whiney negative?
I believe the Oakland Athletics (A's) hat says it all (in his pic). The A's colors are green & yellow, next season the A's are leaving their extremely aged and damaged ballpark in Oakland because they thought Las Vegas would build them a ballpark with government funds much like the Raiders NFL team that moved from Oakland to Las Vegas.
- The Nevada Supreme Court ruled against a proposed ballot initiative that would have put public funding for the stadium up for a vote
The stadium is being built but without much of the public funding. Here are details about the Las Vegas stadium:
- The stadium will be located on the former site of the Tropicana Las Vegas
- The stadium will have a capacity of 30,000 seats, with standing room for up to 33,000
- The stadium will be partially retractable
- The stadium will include underseat cooling
- The stadium will be surrounded by a new Bally's Las Vegas resort
- The stadium will cost an estimated $1.75 billion
- The Las Vegas Stadium Authority approved agreements for the stadium in December 2024
- Groundbreaking is expected to begin in mid-2025
- The stadium is expected to open in early 2028
So in the meantime the A's need a place to play for 2025, 2026 & 2027. They chose to borrow the field in Sacramento (state capital of California) which has a much lower seating capacity. They must share the stadium with the lower level (AAA minor league, one level down) team that was already playing in Sacramento. The Sacramento team will get the choice of dates.
