Hello Hello,

So summer is upon us and I think we can all agree that at least one striker is required.
So, whist watching the play-offs, I've been browsing the top European goalscorers 16/17 for anyone I think is feasible considering our recent rise in stature and bank balance.

Any of them take your fancy?
Any I've missed

Iago Aspas - Celta Vigo - 29

Pros: Nippy, bangs them in, Michael Owen doesn't rate him
Cons: Tried England before, fans favourite, won't be cheap

Gerard Moreno - Espanyol - 25
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Gob7CXMNLU
Pros: Quick, runs at people, cheap
Cons: Unusual ownership situation

Andrej Kramarić - Hoffenheim - 25

Pros: Experience of Premier League, in budget, great age, knows Knocky, motivated for redemption.
Cons: Didn't work out at Leicester, probably in demand.

Benjamin Moukandjo - Lorient - 28
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yeZYLh7l7sU
Pros: Previously linked with numerous Prem clubs, French league arguably more like Prem that La Liga, good name, best goals-per-minute in league
Cons: Prem teams decided against signing. Limited resale value.

Steve Mounie - Montpellier - 22
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BaGX2U4jicc
Pros: Only 22 but scored 14 in 34, attracting lots of interest from England, powerful (nicknamed 'The Tank')
Cons: Bigger, better sides than us will want him, large chunk of wonga.

Nicolai Jörgensen - Feyenoord - 26
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ERc1hJWX6Xo
Pros: Always rated this fella at Copenhagen but was clearly out of our league at the time. He's big, scored goals everywhere he's been and definitely within budget. Most importantly: he's not Dutch!
Cons: Feyenoord qualified for Champions League so possibly still out of our league. Though the call of England is too strong for some.

Marcus Ingvartsen - FC Nordsjælland - 21
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E7c8ehSRPxA
Pros: Top scorer at 21 (22 in 32) in the Danish Superliga. Reasonable size and strength. Great finisher. Scouted by several prem club. Championships League quaifying unlikely to matter.
Cons: Likely domestic competition, clearly a gamble for our first season as big gulf

Jelle Vossen (Yes, seriously) - Club Brugge - 28
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mwf0Xmlwv5o
Pros: Consistent goalscorer, previously bought by not one but two English clubs.
Cons: WTF happened at Burnley?!

A few more names that we should try to sign

Bongo Christ (officially retired but probably negotiable)
Creedence Clearwater (Brazilian plays for Santa Cruz)
Johnny Moustache (Seychelles defender)

and my favourite: Waldo Ponce (Chilean defender)

As someone with a keen interest in Spanish football, I'd say that Gerard Moreno is exactly the kind of player we ought to be looking at. I'm not quite sure what's going on with his registration, but football-wise he could absolutely "do a job" for us.

Sticking to the Spanish theme, apparently Man City are looking to have a clearout in the Summer including offloading Nolito, who is being linked with a move back to Celta Vigo for somewhere in the region of £3.5 million. Were it not for the fact he's almost certainly on daft wages at City, I'd suggest we should have a look in that direction as well.

Sticking with Spain but moving away from strikers, Ruben Garcia at Levante might be an interesting prospect. He's primarily a left winger but can play in the creative "Number 10" role behind the striker that Hughton has apparently said is a priority. I'm not sure how willing Levante would be to sell though, as they've just been promoted back to the Primera so may well want to hang on to their best assets.

Don't forget the left backs or BG will be after you. Clem Fandango from Barcelona B for me.

Great thread - basing it on names alone, I'd go for the bloke who has a hint of Tonton Zola Moukoko about him.

That's my scouting work completed.

A guy at work has been constantly telling me that we should go for Sebastian Giovinco

I first found out about this guy on here last summer. Most comments were along the lines of 'too good', 'too expensive' & 'Premier League class'. Now things are different:

A true number 10 in the Beardsley mold.

I'd play a 4-2-3-1. Stephens & Kayal/Van Ginkel holding the midfield. Solly, Gio & Knocky in a three with Murray or Abraham up front. Happy days.

Have we been linked with van Ginkel anywhere?
