I actually sound like Jimmy Nail ( Oz) but look like Barry Spencer Taylor the radish.
Reminds me of that great line in S2 after his afternoon session with the older lady.

Oz; You know when footballers get to a certain age got to slow their game down? You know but they seem to get to be better players because of experience, you know. Like Johnny Giles. Leeds and Eire. Phew, I feel like I've been playing with somebody like him for 90 minutes this afternoon.
Moxey: You know, it's funny you should mention that about footballers, Oz, cause the only older woman I ever had looked like Billy Bremner

One of my best pals will text with “Leeds and Eire” and nothing else, I’ll reply Brenda has cancelled the bathroom tiles.

We can communicate with AWP quotes, best sitcom ever in my opinion.

  • Terry: Look: all kitchens are filthy, Mr. Fawlty. In fact, the better the kitchen, the filthier it is. Have you ever read George Orwell's experiences at Maxim's in Paris?
  • Basil: No. Do you have a copy? I'll read it out in court!

SHOREHAM BY SEA
First watched at the time, many times since, it’s incredible.

Aside from the more obvious great scenes eg the brash American/Waldorf Salad and the spoilt brat, some cute other back stories …. the Major queuing up at the bar for 6pm every single day “That time already”, the pointless steps up/steps down upstairs (this really is a thing from conversions … we’ve seen it in old hotels). The dinner club night is great … lower middle class guests treated as third rate citizens, also faux Lord Melbury, the snobbery.

A fantastic take on Britain, especially pre 80’s where accent, schooling, who you knew, meant everything.
agree with those…other favs that spring to mind (havnt watched for a long while but will now)..the woman complaining about the view out of a hotel in Torquay (may be wrong here) “what did you expect Sidney Opera House” ……then we have the food inspector ….and Manuels pet ‘mouse’ (rat?) …suddenly appearing in the biscuit tin …..In the background you see Basil being dragged out by the feet
