The last game at The Goldstone. Somehow I left it far too late to even get a chance of a ticket. Was moaning about it at work (contract @ Commercial Union in Reading). Next thing Big Mal, giant dour Northern bloke tells me his son Simon (Ireland) who I vaguely knew was a footballer is currently on loan to Donnie and would I like him to sort out a couple of complimentaries

So, on the Saturday, heart in mouth cos I don't really expect it to happen for a secod I turn up at the wire grille of the ticket office and ask, casually as I could muster, for the tickets. And bugger me, he'd only come up with the goods! In the Donnie end! f*** me! There IS a God!!

Quick word with the stewards at half-time, and escorted round the ground to my rightful place in the North Stand.

Mother of all results!! :clap2:

Both my worst and best ticket story.

My postal application for Spurs away arrived on the right day at the ticket office, in the first bag, on the top. How do I know? One mate is the sorting manager at the Gatwick sorting office and another was the postie on that round at the time. The first mate's application was also in with mine. Somehow the club informed us that our application was unsuccessful as they had now sold out! DOH!

On the day I travelled to White Hart Lane, getting trolleyed on the way, to find myself without a ticket 10 mins before kick off. My fairy godmother now took over. An OAP shuffled over to me asking if I neede a ticket as his wife was ill and so couldn't use hers. Less than face value, thank you very much. Once in the ground I found myself about 10 yards from the directors box with access to some kind of lounge at half time. Bought the old boy a couple of beers, sat in nice comfy sofa and watched the BBC coverage, returned to my seat and sang with the other ALbion fans for the next 45 mins. Did seem to have a large amount of chaps in dayglo jackets around me though! Met my mates outside after and had a monty drinking session in central London that evening, only interupted by a bit of argy bargy with a group of Chelsea fans. But, all in all, a top day out.
