If I was in your blood, you wouldn't be so ugly

I was going to make love to you, but I got high.
I was going to eat your pussy too, but I got high.
And now I'm jacking off and I know why.
Because I got high.
Because I got high.
Because I got high.

Da Dee da da da da.

The sangria made him angrier

The leaves on the table are all turning grey, the first time she saw you she hoped you were gay.

When I was dead I wore a strong perfume, when I was dead I never left the room
When I was dead I wasn't interested in sex, I didn't even care what happened next.

I've always had an admiration for anyone who can get unusual place names into songs, and this is probably my favourite...

Hey Shell, you know it's kind of funny
Texas always seemed so big
But you know you're in the largest state in the union
When you're anchored down in Anchorage

I have always thought that someone bet the Bee Gees that they couldn't get the word Massachusetts into a song and make a hit of it.

Mares eat oats
And does eat oats
But little lambs eat ivy.
And cattle eat ivy,too.
Wouldn’t you?

Dance with me
I want my arms about you,
The charms about you
Will carry me through
To heaven,
I’m in heaven
And my heart stands still
So I can hardly speak
And I always find
The happiness I seek
When we’re out together
Dancing Cheek to Cheek.

You know what 'turning japanese' is referring to, right ?
They said that was an urban myth, and it just meant growing up and turning into something you didn't expect to.

As this song endured into these more 'enlightened times', I suspect they came out with that in order to head off any potential criticism of a racial nature.

Possible I guess, but they said that a long time ago. If the original meaning was as you say, they'll have been quoted confirming it in the past. Also, if they wanted to avoid potential criticism, just don't explain it.

I doubt they'd have come out with it at the time it was in the charts, as some radio stations - ie Radio One - were notoriously prudish. Back in the day, they wouldn't even play 'Relax'.

"So guys, love the song. Unusual lyrics about turning Japanese though, whats that all about ?"
"Well Steve, its about how your eyes go when you're having a w@nk over your girlfriends picture, and you get to the vinegar strokes"
"vineg......uhhh, Jonathan - can we just edit that out ?"

Lovely Rita, meter maid, may I enquire discreetly,
When are you free to take some tea with me.

And then a bit later.....

Got the bill, and Rita paid it.
Took her home, I nearly made it,
Sitting on the sofa with a sister or two.

What about the following 10 years?

What's the evidence that it means as you say?

None whatsoever.

Just as I have no evidence to the contrary when Frank Lampard says that Ross Barkley (3 pens in 4 years) was the designated penalty-taker last night.

Just as I have no evidence to the contrary when Barkley says of the prolonged 'discussion' that took place with Jorginho and Willian that delayed the spot kick when he took the ball - "They were just encouraging me, encouraging me to score the goal. ‘It was more: “Good luck with the penalty” type of thing, encouraging me. They would have been willing to take it as well but I felt confident."

But I don't ALWAYS believe what people come out and say, or take it at face value. People talk a lot of shit in order to pain pictures and cover up, especially to reporters. Certain things I hear and read give me a bout of the chinny reckons.
