I will probably be the only person to pick Goodison, no doubt partly because I've never had to go in the away section, which is by repute the worst in the division. But the sense of tradition, the church and church hall in the corner, the terraced streets, the weird shape of the main stand, the Archibald Leitch architecture - when it goes, something will have disappeared from the top flight and will never come back.

I voted for Craven Cottage (I didn't see the Amex was an option) but Goodison would be my second choice. One of my uni mates was a Toffee so I saw three of four Brighton's games in First Division - from the home end! Proper old fashioned football ground - there aren't too many left now.

But I reckon that even if I had seen the Amex was an option, I'd have gone for CC. Another old fashioned ground and that riverside setting and the walk through Bishop's Park are real plus points.

I tried really hard to go for an alternative to the Amex but other than Craven Cottage, which I haven’t been to since we got well beaten as Micky Adams Fulham brushed us aside(to chants of “we’re shit and we know we are” from the Albion faithful), and I’m sure it’s changed since then, I came back to the Amex. Haven’t done Molineux, the new Spurs stadium, Stamford Bridge or Goodison Park though

Personally, I've always like St James Park, for it's city centre location, great sense of football tradition - plus Newcastle is just a great place for an adventure.

Naturally, a poll is to follow; but stick with me whilst I type in all 20 options...

The Amex because of its emotional attachment - we worked so hard to get it and it has turned out to be a great stadium.

Of the rest, I always like the Etihad. Hate Old Trafford. Of the other old stadia - I quite like Goodison because it is such a throwback to the past and how football grounds used to be. And of course, Liverpool has one of the best pre match pubs - the Ship and Mitre.

Sorry but love Newcastle the place but the ground no.

There's a lot of grounds that due to the history are regarded by the media as great stadiums but these people have never sat in the normal seats, too often these are cramped and poor view.

Leeds, Liverpool, Man Utd, Chelsea, Everton (really poor), Newcastle, Palace, West Ham all have poor facilities.

Etihad is the best.

Agree with this, I have been to all the PL grounds now and think that some are very over-rated. I had been so keen to go to Goodison hearing over the years about what a lovely old classic ground it is....... it isn't, it is shit, cramped and no better than Portman road or Filbert street.

Palace is also by far the worst in the league for facilities, cramped seats and actually feels quite dangerous in terms of the lack of space on the concourses.

Of all the new grounds I too really like the Etihad, if the Amex could ever be expanded (even more) then I would like to follow that model.

I've excluded the Amex as that is cleary cheating. I've gone for the Death Star in N17. Spurs are a team I absolutely loathe but the new stadium has set the benchmark for the next generation of large stadia. The huge wall with its nod to Dortmund is impressive and designed with fans in mind (albeit ones with deep pockets!). I liked the away end, the bar not only had great beer but the service was superb too. Having visited for the NFL I had the chance to walk around the whole thing and the majority of concourses are just superb especially the market place area with its terraced seating. They also have a brewery in the stadium, enough said.

If it were not for Spurs I'd have gone Craven Cottage which is the best 'old' stadium in the country by a mile.

Shame about their fans though. I went to watch Albion’s first game there towards the end of 2018/19 season - we lost 1-0. Yes, it is very impressive although the away bar/food area was cramped and what was on offer was poor.

After the game I was on the train back to Southampton and sat next to some Spurs fans. One of them asked me what I thought of their new gaff. I was complimentary about it overall but made my point about the away facilities. “We don’t give a shit about the away fans. They can all f*** off.” he said. So why bother asking me I thought.

I thought the concourse was pretty good. I didn't eat anything but the Beavertown Bar was great, reasonably priced and got served in no time.

I agree about the fans, we walked back to Northumberland Park and there was a couple of loudmouths slagging Albion off. They displayed their ignorance when they said they hoped Cardiff stay up - that's Neil Warnock's Cardiff.

I didn't get involved, as it seemed like every couple of weeks I was going to London and arguing with plastic big team supporters (Man City semi/Chelsea). The fact that we were set up so defensively by a Tottenham stalwart would have gone right over their heads.

I like The Etihad because of all the different food places around it. It's like a little village where you can sit and eat at when the weather is nice. You can arrive really early and it's like a day out as opposed to a 90 mins football match. It's a whole day experience.

A lot depends on what you want from a ground and the away game experience.
Of the new stadiums, WHL is by far the best except that £1 billion should include coach parking nearby, not a couple of miles away.
Old Trafford is a competition to see how many seats can be crammed into an area. Amex could hold 50K using the same size seating.
London Stadium is a farce. Huge expanse of unused tarmac outside but not parking. Seats so far away your need binoculars.
Anfield have got the fans experience right with lots outside pre match. Looking after the fan not the corporate.
Villa Park, as mentioned before, is a dive. Filthy, crammed and no alcohol.
WBA are another club who have got outside sorted with a fan zone.
So knowing the Amex will have a better fan zone, outside toilets, perfect transport links, large concourse, perfect views from every seat and Harveys my vote has to go there.

Voted Amex as I just love that place. It is special and I have so many happy memories already from a personal as well as football point of view.

That aside, and I know it's nothing special nowadays, but I still have a soft spot for Molineux. When it was rebuilt in the early 90's, as a kid I thought it was amazing. It was so modern compared to most other grounds as there weren't many news ones in those days and it was another world compared to the Goldstone. A game at Molineux in those days really felt like an event and even when I've gone back in recent years I still get that same tinge of excitement. Plus, I've always liked Wolves - great traditional club and one of the best kits!

With regard to their catering I will elaborate my experience. I asked for a pint of cider and was given one of those horrible half pint plastic bottles. For food I requested a burger and was then given a pie (bear in mind I’d already paid for what I’d ordered). We’ve run out of burgers was the response. What’s in the pie I asked, onions came the reply. I believe English may have been the server’s second language so I didn’t pursue the matter.

As for their fans I sometimes wonder where their arrogance comes from. I, too, got it in the ear about our tactics. I explained that every point was vital as we were fighting relegation but that made no difference, the insults continued. In my view Spurs fans, en masse, seem to be the most detestable of all the London clubs (I exclude Palace in this case).

Probably shouldn't have put the AMEX on this poll as that's a given.

So I've gone for Fulham on the grounds of: it's close, very doable by train, nice pubs in the area, great away end, and decent atmosphere always generated by us. The size and depth of the away end and being behind the goal is hard to beat, BUT

I'd also add Southampton as well for similar reasons to the above, but local pubs and eating areas are too far from the stadium.

Of the further afield, I'm struggling to say any of the Northern ones float my boat that much. Wolves is a dreadful away side (although we had the behind the goal corner last time), West Brom is a bit rank, the big clubs don't float my boat as too big and sterile. Anfield probably the best of the big teams. Newcastle away end is dreadful, too far away, like watching the game through a telescope from the moon.

I quite like Villa, but Stockdale flash backs keep hitting me.

Of London, I enjoy Palace, because it is Palace, but it's dreadful. Arsenal is dead, Spurs is lovely and a great stadium, but awful area. Reminds me of Wembley before the more recent developments. Chelsea, a bit meh really. Quite like West Ham, but so far from the pitch, very inferior to Upton Park.
