"Everything I know about morality and the obligations of men, I owe it to football"
Albert Camus.
I don't think he would have said that if he'd been alive today.

If we are going back to the Greats of Management then there's the all-time legendary Bill Shankly one:

"Football is not a matter a life and death - in fact it doesn't matter very much at all." (I think I've got it right?)

Bill Shankly was asked if there was any truth in the rumour that he took his wife to see Tranmere Rovers on their wedding anniversary. He replied "Don't be daft - why would I get married in the football season?"

My favourite Shankly quote,

"Of course I didn’t take my wife to see Rochdale as an anniversary present. It was her birthday. Would I have got married in the football season? Anyway, it was Rochdale reserves.”
