The Masterplan was an amazing album too

Wasn't really an album though, it was the point at which Noel realised he had written 14 or so great songs that were consigned to b-sides of the first 8 singles, which he realised were 10 times better than the stuff he had written for Be Here Now, and still better than the stuff he was coming up with for Standing on the Shoulders of Giants.

To think it was all b sides most bands don't bring out albums of that standard with their best material

Completely agree, there were 12 B-sides off the first 4 singles that would have made a great album in their own right. What was heart breaking for me was that they never got back to that amazing formula they had in those first couple of years.

I know where you are coming from, it was never an album I agree 100%

I'm leaving this thread before I get too drunk and emotional lol, last words for me as I have already said, they defined my generation and no mater what anyone says, they were simply AMAZING in that '94-'96 era.

Goodnight Oasis fans, God bless

Aquiesce or the Masterplan (track) I do like! Always had a grudging respect for the band and Gallagher Brothers whatever others may think. Would love to spend an afternoon wih Noel rummaging through his record collection.

They have sought inspiration (or as others more cynical may say "ripped off") from bands that went before them but they only chose the best. I remember reading an interview with Noel once when he was questioned about an alleged Beatle influence in one of his songs (can't remember which), he strongly denied the allegation and said he had stolen the idea off a Mott the Hoople track!

Still like 'be here now' just reminds me of earls court but think they sort of lost it after that album

(a lot of people think they lost it after the second album)

Can't stay away, agree with the first two album thing but heathern chemistry produced some classics! Little by little, stop crying your heart out and liams best effort (let's forget little James) songbird!

I'm also a massive fan of the Heathern Chemistry album, some blockbusters on there!

I love that album!!! I still don't get the negative publicity surrounding that - especially given what it followed!
