What are the best National Trust sites to visit?
Sheffield Park, Nymans, Standen, Scotney Castle, Sissinghurst, Chartwell, Batemans are all decent places for a wander round and all have coffee shops / restaurant.

For us we've visited a hell of a lot sites over the years throughout the UK.
Our favourite is Cliveden, which takes a lot to beat.
A close second would be Croome.
We've stayed in a lot of NT cottages etc..
Where we go for the obscure rather than the traditional choice.
The Potting shed at Glendurgan was great.

Yes, Clivedwn is great.
Wimpole Estate near Cambridge is also a good day out.
We use them as places to stop when driving to a holiday over here too. Membership is great value for money, especially if you are retired.

Remember, it’s not just castles and stately homes (wonderful though many of these are). Probably my favourite NT visit was in Liverpool, to 'The Beatles' Childhood Homes.' You actually get to wander round inside the houses Lennon and McCartney grew up in, plus get taken to various Liverpool landmarks like Penny Lane, Strawberry Fields, etc. Unforgettable if you’re a Beatles fan. Probably if you’re not too.
