For me, it was...
1. Sheff Wed at home in late 70's, 33,000 evening game, in the old 3rd Div.
2. Play off final at Millenium Stadium v Bristol City (same division)
3. Newcastle away, old second division
Could be SWFC again this time
Your No 1 was mine also. Remember stopping at a pub on the way home had trouble ordering a drink let alone trlling the Land Lord the score because I had lost my voice after singing in the North Stand. For me, it was...

Remember the Wednesday game well.
Eric Potts was playing for them and scored 2 I think. We signed him up next season.
The noise was deafening that night. Surges in the north where your feet dont touch the ground.
Think it ended 3-2. Memorable pitch invasion. Coppers making a token effort to stop it.
I think as far as match and atmosphere were concerned the Sheff Wed game WAS better than Newcastle. The crowd had been pretty noisy all season though, remember the League Cup games against Ipswich and Derby? We'd got promoted in 1972 in a night game (against Rochdale) and the atmosphere was nothing like the Sheff Wed game. The Sheffield Wednesday game had it all. 33,000 fanatical supporters rammed in to the Goldstone. Without checking the facts, I seem to remember Wardy missing a penalty in the first half and going 1-0 down, coming back to be 3-1 up then Weds making it 3-2 to make it a bum-clenching final few minutes. We then heard that another team (someone remind me who!) had lost, meaning we were up!
The noise that night was immense. I remember going to a friend's uncle's house up near the Greyhound Stadium after the game - they said they'd never heard any noise like it coming from the Goldstone. There was something special about it being a night game, they were always more atmospheric at the Goldstone anyway. It capped a truly memorable season, too.
