Top presents. I am one of these that agree that something made is better then something brought.

I much prefer homemade presents. I have done something homemade every year since Callum was born and we've kept them all.

My missus is away for a couple of weeks visiting her mum in Haywards Heath (just diagnosed with the big C)

So this monrning my two girls were supposed to be looking after me - fat chance ! Apart form a cuppa at eight and a couple of little pressies, its business as usual really.

Ungrateful git!

So your kids made you a cuppa first thing and gave you a present each and you disregard these gestures out of hand - you don't really deserve to be treated then :nono:

Father's day is a load of bollocks ... as is Mother's day.

Any decent kid treats his parents well all year long and doesn't require a designated "day" to be nice to them. It's a commercial rip-off.

I never bought my parents cards or gifts or took them out on either day (told them that I might consider it if there was a kids day to even things out), but I was a bloody sight better son than many.

Told my kids that under no circumstances should they ever acknowledge Father's day and they haven't. They fullt support my position.

You could say that about any 'day'!

And it doesn't need to be a commercial rip off at all, you don't have to buy a Hallmark card or a bottle of aftershave or new socks or tie. I spent the grand total of £2.60 (for two stone frames - plus a book and DVD that I found that was meant for Christmas) on what my kids will give their daddy, they made the rest with card, paint, glue, pasta shapes from home. Seeing his face when they give him a homemade stepping stone they put all their effort into making is priceless. My kids do treat their daddy well all year long, but we know you never know when your kids will be taken from you and we've learnt to make the most of what we have. That doesn't mean you have to sell out to Hallmark or Body Shop or change from being a good kid all year to just one day though.
