From a "Barcelona spokesman" in today's Observer Sport:

"Lampard knows he has no chance of moving to any of the big European clubs so will almost definitely stay at Chelsea. There is no option. He has been offered to us, to Milan, Inter and Real Madrid. Basically all of the big clubs. But none are interested. We are the same as those clubs are, we're looking for a player who is more creative and has better technique than Lampard. So it looks like he will go nowhere".

I *suppose* it might not be the money he's turning his nose up at. He's had a lot of stick from fans here, he's reasonably intelligent (for a footballer) and his wife is Spanish, therefore maybe he just wants to go abroad, and that's why he's rejected the offer from CHelsea.

Nah, he just wants the same money as Shevchenko or Ballack.

I'm not that fussed about Lampard getting 90k or 120k. You can argue that he is a member of a successful team and he is being rewarded for it. I DO have an issue with the numerous players who are routinely rewarded for failure. I find it hard to get my head arround the arrogance and ostentation and salary of players like Anton Ferdinand who regularly end the season in the lower half of the table but get rewarded as though they have won the league.

It's when you read the "Boy's A Bit Special" column in FourFourTwo magazine and see some 18 year old Middlesbrough reserve asked what wheels he has at the moment and he replies

"I've just passed my test in an 06 reg Merc, but I've got a BMW X5 on order"

I'm not saying anyone is worth that sort of money, far from it. But, if you're going to pay someone £100k a week then at least make it your best player, the man who at times carries the whole team - that's what Liverpool have done. Why anyone would pay Frank Lampard one quarter of that is just beyond me. If ever there was an overrated, useless, fat lump of turd it is him. I just hope he continues to get picked for England so the fans can continue to abuse him, and let him know what everyone in the country can see.

Quite, I hope he does leave and Chelsea win everything without him.

But he loves Chelsea dont you know, he kisses the badge....

...and reality is that the boy isnt really that special at all. He probably had a couple of outings in the first team at the end of last season, didnt make any obvious mistakes and is therefore the next big thing. The technique and artistry of English footballers is way behind that of other countries....so it takes very little talent to shine.

Can't blame the players for taking what's on offer. I would in their position.

But on the other hand I can't then have an ounce of sympathy for them when they claim to be too tired to play two games a week occasionally. Them's the breaks, lads, if you don't like it, go ram it and become a postman.

Also why has the name Fat Frank stuck? He is clearly stacked and its kinda funny when overweight people shout it at him at pubs.
