Hemorrhoid disease or “piles” as it is commonly called, is one of the most frequent complaints voiced by patients. Almost every symptom affecting the anal region is ascribed to hemorrhoids by patients.

I haven't had it but if you are experiencing any symptoms then I'd get checked out straight away.

However, when symptoms do occur they may include:

bleeding after passing a stool (the blood will be bright red)
itchiness around your anus (the opening where stools leave the body)
a lump hanging down outside of the anus, which may need to be pushed back in after passing a stool.
