You really are on a roll with 'whataboutery' on this thread.....what about accepting Farrage is a self-serving hypocrite and trouble maker, with no actual ability to lead anything even his own silly party, the The Clamp's original point, and not bringing up irrelevant suport for him? And he did not cause Brexit. That was legitimate politicians of longstanding and honourable engagement (like Bill Cash - disagree with him though I do), needlessly given their head by the gormless dweeb, Cameron.

And that doesn't make the EU good either (it isn't - neither were the Albion in 98, but I didn't flounce and become Palace which is what Farrage would have done were he me, Heaven forfend).

Become Palace HWT ??. Wash you mouth with soap at once

I think last time I reported it I was told that the policy is to not moderate avatars (or something like that). I always tend towards allowing things rather than banning them, and that includes things which are very controversial, I will always defend free speech and if you are going to do that you have to do it for views which you detest.

This is a free country, but this isn't a free message board, and that avatar and signature don't constitute controversial opinion. I don't see why something which is willfully and unequivocally nasty and sick should be protected on here.

Indeed. Well if the policy is to not moderate avatars, how about someone someone putting up a porn gif as an avatar?.....see how long that lasts.....I smell bullshit here....

Infact, on your avatar and signature, I've reported this before, and I'm going to do it again.

I'm the biggest free speech advocate you are likely to find anywhere.

But a picture of an injured person as your avatar, and a signature which bemoans the fact that they didn't die, is not OK.

It's sick.

Exactly. We need more avatars like Bushy's that celebrate the historic stand Bobby Sands made against the imperialist colonisers of Ireland.

Mmmm....fair enough.

It's odd, though. I have never met anyone who loves the EU or seen evidence of such love on NSC. There is a big difference between thinking we are better off to be in it that out of it, and professing a love for it. Likewaise, I voted for 'new labour' but it would be absurd to accuse me therefore of being a communist, red in tooth and claw.

I think that Farage is a cartoon baddie for people who disapprove of big mouth mendacious dick heads.

Oddly enough, I do know some people who have either worked in Brussels and who have a 'love' of the EU and its institutions or people who have felt direct benefit from EU policies.

There are some posters here on the Brexit thread who can only see good in the EU. Equally there are those on the other side who only see bad. Idealism can be a dangerous trait as it ignores the simple fact that most things in life are not straightforward but a mixture. It is why I have some sympathy for those who are in charge of Brexit, even though it's a bit of a mess. There but for the grace of God go I, kind of sentiment.

I think using that poster was deplorable. However, are there people who wish to defend Angela Merkel's policies?

In the situation, she did a noble thing, it would not further her Political career, it would cause her problems, perhaps due in some part of the guilt that still exists in Germans for the holocaust, she took the action to save lives. I will defend her policy, I only wish we and others had taken on more of that burden.

I think she was motivated by kindness. But I also think it was a mistake as allowing such a huge influx of people with an 'unconnected' culture into the country not only strained infrastructure but also has allowed a strengthening of the already numerous far-right opposition groups. It also massively influenced the Brexit vote imo.

Merkel's family was, I believe, from a refugee family in that after the war, her family were ethnic German refugees from parts of Europe where it was no longer safe to be a German.

Sinn Fein MPs don’t sit in Parliament, they receive U.K. taxpayer funded salaries and expenses. This has been the case for decades and their constituents evidently have no truck with using British democracy as a step towards broader objectives.

Farage and UKIP are merely doing the same within the construct of the EU. Not attending EU meetings etc. will not bother UKIP supporters one jot.

Whining about this trifle demonstrates you don’t get politics politicians and political objectives..........the fact that it irks you so much says more about your lack of political nous than Farage’s shenanigans.

It is the swearing allegiance to the Queen thing that kind of makes it difficult for Sinn Fein MP's to take their seats.
The EU does not insist on any oath that might stick in Farages throat, Farage is perfectly willing to turn up for a rant, or to vote against stuff, just not for a discussion on anything constructive.

I'm sorry, I can accept that it was done with good intentions, but it wasn't "action to save lives". The people involved here were not refugees, a refugee is escaping danger and seeking refuge.

When you enter Turkey from Syria you are seeking refuge in Turkey to escape danger in Syria. But when you enter Germany from one of it's surrounding countries you are not a refugee, you are not looking to cross a boarder to escape danger. They crossed from Austria, they were safe in Austria. They were also safe in Hungary before that, and Serbia, Macedonia and Greece before that. Once they got out of Syria their lives were saved, and they stopped being refugees and they became migrants.

I'm not being mean spirited, I feel for anyone in those circumstances, but if you are going to say that Germany saved those peoples lives, then you are going to end up having to argue that those opposed to the German policy didn't care about people whose lives were in danger, and that is patently false.

And you have every right to report it. If the Mods see fit to change it or ask me to do so, I will abide by that. Of course, you could have quite easily reported it without posting about it but then I suppose that wouldn't have fitted in with your agenda to derail a thread you just happen not to like.

As regards the actual Avatar it's the visual equivalent of saying "Couldn't happen to a nicer bloke". Sorry you have been offended by it, not everybody finds the same things amusing and I appreciate that. An indication of the snowflake generation I suppose.

But I digress, this is a thread to discuss the bleak existence of Nigel Farage, not what you are currently getting upset about.

NF isn't a racist or a bad person at all, the only people who suggest he is are people who disagree with his political views.

Why cast someone as being racist when it's their politics you don't agree with? Well usually it's because you can't win the political argument on the merits of your position.

You have a picture of him, almost serious injured or even killed in a plane crash. Your signature is "nearly". The implication is clear. You think and are willing to state publically that it's a shame he didn't die.

Why? Because - politics.

He isn't a bad person, but you certainly are.

I don't think he is a racist in the way we often think of them, but he clearly believes in some form of British Exceptionalism, which you have to admit is kind of racist. I also am damn sure he is willing to use dog whistle racism to further his aims.

Why can't they swear the oath? It doesn't stop the SNP from sitting.

You've got one thing right. Racism used to mean hating another country or culture. Now it just means loving and being proud of your own.

We have a lot to love and be proud of about this country, and it is not racist or demeaning to any other country or culture to know that or to say it.

I really don't think that is correct and I think it's rather hysterical of you to think that. Why are you so insecure about your own beliefs and opinions that you won't let others have theirs? Especially considering your Avatar and Rothbard's questionable views on race, equality and women's rights.

Anyway, to save any more of your histrionics I have changed my avatar and my signature. I hope that settles you down.

Genuinely important that people protest this man wherever he goes. He may be enjoying the warm glow of the emboldend right over here and the reflected orange glow of Trump's sycophancy in the US but in country's where people like honesty and straight talking he is mocked and protested for the racist plonker he is.

So apart from the non stop left wing media ,protests and challenges to derail brexit you now want to protest against a influential brexiteer who is spot on when it comes to the hideous EU.

You idiots never stop !!!
The Mans a legend :)
