Make an incursion into actually but thanks for the correction. Any opinion on Trump?

Firstly , it was driving me mad , I knew what you meant to say but couldn't think of the correct word , incursion was on the tip of my tongue but couldn't get it , as for Trump, maybe not ambassador , but I'd like to see him used in some way , this is the real world ,and we have a fantastic opportunity as we have an "in" with the trump team , we should use it , even if as you leftys would say "you hold your nose whilst doing it", personally I am a big admirer of Farage but I guess you're not going to need smelling salts on discovering that :lolol:

I don't think we should work AGAINST Trump, that would be madness. But he's isolationist enough that working FOR him would disadvantage our own country. It's interesting that Farage, who seems to be such a proud ordinary Brit now wants to forge a right-leaning, neo-libertarian alliance with Trump.

"You leftys" :lolol: - certainly guilty of not liking Trump or Farage but I'm an admitted social democrat / liberal in the proper sense. I can't stand socialism.

Time to wake from our slumber indeed and realise that we cannot pretend this is 'normal'. This is facism in the making. It is pathetic to see our government trying to pretend we can keep our (entirely one sided) 'special relationship' and try to suck up to this souless, greedy lying man. This is what has been 'awakened': by Trump.

Has Trump attempted to disown or distance himself from these people? I haven;t seen any evidence and indeed it seems that he has moved himself deliberately closer.

Like you I fear that we are sleep walking into a new modern form of far right politics which has some resemblance to facisum it feels like the normalisation of the abnormal a reintroduction of a far right politics portraying a new acceptable face of the far right to the western world, I am not saying that Trump, Farage or many of the Tories are facists but they do appear to be spouting right wing ideas that upon their coat tails the facists can find a way back into politics and ultimately power.

All very worrying times

I think that because the politics of the last 20 years, especially under Labour has not really put the UK's interests first, then any change looks like moving "far" right to many.

We live in a world (again) where the (soon-to-be) leader of a global power is saluted like this:

No. It looks like the far right because it IS the far right! Nazi salutes are not how one nation tories generally react to a speech they enjoyed.

The right of politics is popular I see. Time to wake up from our slumber, the western world is changing. Nigel Farage is known to President elect, is liked by President elect and it would make perfect sense to send someone who actually gets on with President elect to build bridges and be an ambassador.

A lot of the role of an ambassador is about tact and diplomacy - not Farage's strong point. They also have to stand up for our national interests and place in the world. If we were ever to want to object to anything the US was doing on human rights grounds, Farage would not be the person to do it because, let's face it, he would probably agree with the Trumpster.

If a country wants a specific person as ambassador, that is probably a very good reason NOT to do it.

But I do like the idea, as mentioned above, as Rich Hall as their ambassador to us.

Trump seems very into Cronyism.

Farage is Trump's crony, but sadly for Nigel there is no vacancy.

Gods country fortnightly
I would imagine Farage is furious that a foreign politician is seeking to influence the UK Prime Minister's sovereign rights and obligations through unwarranted outside interference.

Apparently still furious the referendum was only 48 - 52 and wants a re-run as it was so close. The guy is such a hypocrite....

I thought he wanted his life back? Being constantly in the media and now wanting to become British Ambassador to Washington is a strange way of going about it.
