...you'll likely be sad to learn about the death of former PE teacher Geoff Schaverien from Cancer last week.

Terrific human being in my view..encouraging, friendly, supportive like every teacher should be

RIP Schavvy..You'll be missed.

Speaking to a lot of people over the past couple of days I haven't heard anyone say they have anything but the utmost respect and time for him

RIP. All I can do is echo above, was kind encouraging and supportive to everyone. One of the best teachers I had, out knew of.

Best user name in the history of this place. Nice one Charles

Just passing the news on to my daughters, both who went to PCC

I've just sworn loudly on hearing this sad news.

He was a Fawcett teacher in the '70s too and taught me and countless others how to play - and love - cricket. He got me a place playing for Hove Montefiore and I owe him a huge, huge amount. He was a terrific teacher in a tough school.

Does anyone know when/where the funeral might be?

PG

Was with him at Hove Grammar. As well as his love for rugby he was the best goalkeeper I've played with,a star for house, school and Brighton boys. Haven't seen him since 1966 in A level year, but he was an excellent, humourous person and I am saddened by this news.

Saw this on Facebook yesterday, gutted. Taught me PE for 4 years, has anyone set up a facebook memorial page yet? Would be very nice to leave lots of messages for his family.

Further sincere condolences to Geoffs family,

was by far my favourite form teacher at patcham, and laterly a friend,
i remember one morning about 12 of us were all crowded round his desk having a crack, then dickie denyer strolled in and shouted at us to all sit down, and was amazed to find geoff sitting in the middle at his desk !
everyone loved Geoff, will miss him too
