Tonight, ITV are showing a documentary entitled "The Fight Of The Lives" which is about the brutal Nigel Benn vs. Gerald McClellan fight from 1995.

Suffice to say this should be a must-watch (although undoubtedly tough viewing in terms of the outcome) for all fight fans.

Terrible outcome incredible fight at a time that weight division was bursting with talent. Boxing has changed a lot since that night and had that fight been today it would be stopped inside 3 rounds

Terrible story but needs to be told.

Disagree about it being the best fight ever though. I think it would be a toss up between Micky Ward v Atturo Gatti or Erik Morales v Marco Antonio Barrera. The first fights of the trilogies.

I remember watching this in the pub aged 17. Brutal fight, I've only seen it once (that night) but have always maintained it is the best I've ever seen. It will be interesting to revist this after all these years.

Hopefully the previously 'unseen footage' will not be too harrowing or upsetting.

I've never been a fan of boxing, never watched it and never paid any attention. But I've been bored for the last hour or so and have been watching the Benn vs McLellan fight highlights and then the aftermath and it is just incredible. I've read all sorts of things about the fight itself, and McLellan's conditions after it. One of the most gut wrenching things I have watched was the photographer who went to meet McLellan in America... Very sad.
