Fans United Day

Remember that great day. Well now another, local club needs you. This Saturday could be the last ever Lewes FC game at the Dripping Pan. The club is facing a winding up order in the High Court on September 2nd for £110,00 owed to the Inland revenue. All bank accounts have been frozen and the club is effectively being run by a small management committee.

I am calling on as many Albion fans as possible to attend the Pan on Saturday for the match against Woking. Wear your colours, tell your friends, tell supporters of other teams to come along and wear their colours too. There will be plenty of refreshments available at the bar before, during and after the game and Woking have promised to bring around 200 fans down.

Remember, Lewes FC were there when you needed them. Will you be there for us?

Email me 'leecobb@onetel.com' for more details of call me on 07736065668.

I'll pop along. Hope it helps in some way.

Should'nt have spent all your money that was needed on improving the ground paying unrealistic wages to journeymen who left at the first sign of the money drying up, hence last seasons performance and hence causing the deficit!!

Just saying that's all!!

I agree with you but even I have had to patch things up with the owner for the sake of the club. If Worthing were in the same boat I'd brave the A27 traffic for your club.

What he said!

When BHAFC held the Worlds first Fans United, they were being fleeced by unscrupulous owners. To attempt to make comparison with the present plight of Lewes is an insult to all those who dedicated so much of their personal time to ridding the club of Archer & co.

Lewes are in the shit simply because they lived beyond their means, paying stupid money to non league journeymen. The Pissing Pot was nowhere near up to Conference standard, but still the directors of that club bankrolled the "Kings Ransom" & lived on borrowed money & time. How many of those players who passed through Lewes FC during their so called glory years, had that odious midget, Steven King as their agent too I wonder?

Lewes FC were once flavour of the month to many "Harveys on the terrace" Elliott & Parris arselickers to many on this Forum. Many no doubt, were the same people who were highly critical of Chesterfield when they cheated their way to the top of the old forth division some years back. There was plenty of indignation from this forum & rightly so. What Lewes have done over the past few years is no better than Chesterfield.

Most of those Lewes fans who jumped on the Post Stoke City bandwagon have mostly evaporated back to wherever they came when things became tough last season. The original hardcore few who would think nothing of trundling off to some remote corner of Hertfordshire for a midweek match will be left to pick of the embers and maybe restart in the County League I suspect.

It's quite ironic that the tax office dealing with the Lewes shambles is the Worthing office, once their bitterest rivals & a club that has had to cut back over the last few years in order to stay viable. The Worthing tax office deals with 'problem' cases. Reliable rumour has it, the men in grey suits from Durrington are becoming increasingly fed up with football clubs who run their financial affairs in a reckless manner and are looking to make an example of somebody. If the Worthing tax office make an example of Lewes, there's a lesson to be learnt for clubs of all levels who think they can live the impossible dream on money that isn't there.

Worthing tax office might be using this case as an appetiser before getting their teeth stuck into a Championship club (clue = orange twat)

I agree with you too. I'm just trying to help the club I support survive. If you feel this way fair enough don't help. All money taken goes into the Members club account and not Lewes FC. It will be used either to pay the bills or, heaven forbid, help set up a new club if the current one folds. I wish no ill to any club and I hope you feel the same.

Also, I make no comparison to what happened at BHA just the fact that like minded fans got together to help out. Whatever the cause of the mess a local club is in danger of going bust.

All reasonable points, but when did Lewes rip off other football clubs or submit false gate receipts of their attendance or make illegal payments to their players?

Agreed - Lewes have had piss poor management. Everyone knows that, but I'll be going to support a club that people have been going to and have loved for decades. It is a lovely family club.

Have a go at the likes of CHELSEA and MAN U, they're the fuckers that are ruining this game, and ruining clubs like Lewes.

Ohhhhhhhh Lee, big mistake. Don't go giving it the whole 'I agree with you mate' rubbish if you are then going to call him a knob on your own forum.

Whilst walking on Sunday, I called James Boyes and hatched this plan. Unfortunately my internet access was limited on the downs so had to wait until now.

I have posted threads on Northstandchat and the Eastbourne B forums under the heading 'FANS UNITED DAY'.

It has already generated 7 positives on NSC (plus one Worthing kn*b).
