As always with moments like these and people questioning our ambitions I would like to point out that it is a marathon, not a sprint.

True, nevertheless it is important, in fact more important, to be prepared. We at this time don't appear to be. Why, only those informed will know. For my money I think we might have tried to be too smart. We can't expect to win every transfer deal, we were IMO overpaid for Leo and should accept we might not get such a good deal next time. Basically you can't always sell high and buy low.
That said, I still have great confidence in TB and PB to pull us through. I don't mind if we don't get promoted, but I would like to achieve some degree of happiness from my support. But hey, I can remember when there were reasons too 'poo the bed' rather than wet it. It's not a bad place to be.....but the shirts are crap. ( I suggest we have a fans competition to design the next one).

Why is that? What changes in "n" years time vs this season or next? I don't see anything other than pinning all our hopes on developing youth ... we may be successful but the Southampton model doesn't just happen because we've built a nice new training facility.

For me the clock starts again at the beginning of every season and those best prepared that season will have the best opportunity, and there's a huge slice of luck/good fortune needed too

We aren't to know what financial restraints we as a club are facing behind the scenes. We don't know what strategies and procedures the club have mapped out to ensure future successes.

Ever since Bloom took over we've seen nothing but growth and stabilisation of the club season after season.

I think our time will come when its the right time. If that's in 10 years time then so be it. No point in having the mindset that it simply should be expected because we've had a bit of success lately.

Fair points.

That's why I say its a marathon not a sprint. For all we know we might have been in the last few years a period of over achieving in relation to where our long term goals lie.

I think the CMS signing was us having a quick sneaky crack at going up right away. After that the board realised it takes more than just big signings to create a successful club which can have sustained success.

Like you I have much confidence in TB steering the club in a sensible and measured way moving forward.

they both sound as boring as each other , i have got a feeling that the football will be as boring as last season

How does Sami sounding boring translate into the type of football he'll want?

Many Finns sound like they're attending the most boring funeral you could imagine, but that doesn't make them boring people. I know a few and they are quite the opposite!

Quite right. I've been supporting Brighton for 47 years and, for probably the first time, I get the feeling that the club is being run properly, with a view to the future. Wilee can't compete financially with the teams with parachute payments but our debts are under control and the academy will be a worthwhile investment. I'm sure we'll reach the PL at some point, it may not be this season but we're heading in the right direction.

As the Dane (not Casper) says "If it be now, ’tis not to come. If it be not to come, it will be now. If it be not now, yet it will come"

I forget to ask about Bennett's field last night I was more concerned about what is going on with transfers how we are going to play and the price of pie and a pint! Roll on Saturday and how are we are going to build our fan base.

FFP will begin to tell this season as well. We have a few things working in our favour in the long term, it's just a shame that the management don't quite seem to realise how quickly attendances will drop when they continue price rises.

In line with in inflation is not an excuse. Season tickets can't always keep rising without a reflection on the pitch, and I think it is very hard to regain a lost season ticket holder once they don't renew.

I'm not sure how FFP kicking in will really help. We weren't "compliant" before and although we are likely to be now I suspect pretty well all others will be too apart from those that are likely to challenge its legitimacy or find loopholes. Those with parachutes (half?) will have an even bigger advantage if FFP takes hold.

I agree the point about losing "fans". It would take a lot for me to give up and it's actually less to do with our on the pitch success. What gets up my nose is a combination of the spin and bollox that's continually trotted out as if none of us has a clue and the extreme arrogance that underpins the attitude of a few.

Maybe football has moved on, I'd expect it in the Prem and it's the bit of PLR we've got more right than anything else, unfortunately

Where WHERE have I criticised anything other than Barber?? FYI, I did a stint with AITC last year and got personal insight into what a fabulous organisation it is - as for the Board I don't know hardly anything about them, so show me where I have criticised them.

You don't like I am vocal about Barber, fine! But don't make up lies just to suit your argument.

You need to keep up. Barber's IN at the moment; somehow his mantra has worked its way into a number of NSC'rs brains and he can do no wrong. Give it 6 months and some sanity will return when it is realised that the ability to respond to an e-mail and the fact that you're not as bad as the previous fella from Millwall does not justify the legend tag being bestowed upon him.

Oh for independent thought.......
