For what it's worth, the ONLY discussion I have had with Dick Knight about Dean Wilkins came at a time when his position was that he WASN'T going to sack him.

You shouldn't really be having ANY discussion with Dick about anything to do with players/staff at the club - what about employee confidentiality?

Can you tell me how my Swipes as you put it are unfounded - we have only heard Dicks side to the story - come to think of it thats all we ever hear - are people paid to keep quiet when they leave this club?

You claim that "Dick Knight is lying" - but you have NEVER said what it is that DK has said that is untrue.

That - to my mind - counts as an "unfounded swipe".

He is when he says that Dean wanted to leave the club

Dean was offered a role as 1st team coach. Dean decided not to accept that role and opted to leave. In choosing not to stay with the club, he wanted to leave. Besides which, you have been saying he has been lying long before the management changes.

And you beleive that he chose to leave - Oh who told us yes Dick again!!

I heard him say that at the forum. It was news to me, as I guess it was to pretty much everyone.

My interpretation of what was said is that DK takes the view that some things are important, irrespective of the Club's results. A promotion that cannot be sustained because the manager can't take the club forward is not much good in the long run.

Was Dean Wilkins offered the role of first team coach? Yes.
Did Dean Wilkins decide not to accept the role of first team coach? Yes.
In effect, he chose to leave by not accepting the role. Possibly he felt he had to leave, but where has Dick actually lied?

Now, I was very disappointed to see Dean Wilkins removed. I have been a fan of his for a long time (when he was playing for us, until present day), but I am willing to accept that the board are there to make a decision on what is best for the club and the future of the club. I thought they were very brave in offering him the managers job and I was pleased that they showed faith in him. Sadly, it did not seem to work out, despite an upturn in results and a good job of rebuilding the team. Why? I do not know the ins and outs of what Dean Wilkins is perceived to have done or not done, but I am willing to back Dick Knight AND the board as they are privy to all the facts and they run the club. Me? I am just a paying spectator.

Small bit and pieces.

1. Public statements have been made about Wilkins' dismissal.

2. Lord Bracknell and me being poodles of DK. It's pathetic, puerile and silly. It therefore comes under 'wrong'. If anything, between Lord B and DK, it's sometimes the other way round. Myself, I haven't spoken to Dick for months.

3. Him claiming there's a clique. That's bollocks too. A group of people, fed up with bhadeb's persistent unfounded sideswipes at Dick, and vehemently disagreeing with her does not constitute a clique - to wit, and consciuosly organised group formed to gang up on another group. Many just happen - independently of each other - to be fed up of her meaningless jibes.

Still undecided about the 'arrogant cunt' bit though - he could be right about that. He is well and truly out of order mentioning my business though. Where he originally thought he held the high ground, he has brought himself straight back down to the level he placed me on by mentioning that.

Plus it was quite a high and mighty rant - worthy of some 'arrogant cunt' himself.

Blah, blah blah, blah............

I thankyou for that reply BOF...............reasoned..............an opinion.............and no insults.

When did DK say that Dean Wilkins wanted to leave the club? All I've heard is a statement to the effect that Dean Wilkins hadn't accepted the coaching job. That's not the same thing.

I have heard (not from anyone on the board) that most of the board, including DK, genuinely believed that DW wanted to stay and that they thought that he would accept the coaching job. But that's only gossip.

I think the problem is when someone leaves the club in the circumstances that many have over the past few months the person going cannot speak for maybe two reasons

1 if they speak out against the chairman/club is would ruin future possibilties with other clubs
2 maybe there have been told when they go to keep quiet

You might be right. But that's his decision.

And do you think that is right for a chairman to discuss with a fan details about a manager - i know i would certainly not allow that to happen at work - i think the word Greivance comes to mind

In my job, I'm a manager, working direct to a Chair. I have no problem with her talking to anyone about me. But I work for an organisation that is owned by its customers and I consider that I am accountable to the Chair, the Directors and the customers.

I think that is a lot of hot air about nothing it was the boards unanimous decision possibly/probably instigated by DK that they didnt consider that DW was the man to trake us forward to Falmer so they sacked him, fair comment. Some will agree with that decison some will not but it was , by all account a unanimous baord decision so who are we to argue. Why should DK or the board have to justify their decisions to supporters of the club. Please do not class me as a DK arse licker because I am far from that but believe that in this instance he is right.
