In general the Inland revenue would expect the club to pay the CGT and get it refunded once they have the new qualifying asset (Falmer) to claim the rollover relief

Me too. McGhee was VERY impressive tonight - there really is a plan. To think that I was worrying last season that it was going to be years of lumping it to Iwelumo!

Whilst I shouldn't be negative ( I can't help it)... but all MM's hard work and success will mean nothing unless the other issues ( ground/Tax/seats etc etc) get sorted out sooner rather than later. As was said, we may need to sell our 'crown jewels' to fund something ( inquiry/taxman), and that would put us back a division or two.

I am fervently keeping my fingers crossed I can tell you.

I guess the CGT cannot be rolled over into Withdean as we only rent it and maybe the re-development costs are not capitalised by the club and therefore treated as revenue expenditure.

Therefore the gain can only be "rolled over" into Falmer. There are time limits which I think will now have expired, however the Inland Revenue have the "option" to extend the time limit in exceptional cases.

I would imagine that the inquiry argument can be treated as exceptional.

However, the Inland Revenue would rather have their money now and repay it again in the future when Falmer is built.

Blimey!

I didn't realise that we had such clever souls logging on to NSC. I applaud you all. What other forms of expertise do we have?

I bet the Phalace messageboard contributers are not as clever!!

This thread a great read... thank you to all who raised the questions, and took the time to post the details on here... couldn't make it due to work committments but, after reading this, feels like I was there in person... thank you again...

the highlight of the night was when someone asked mcghee why the same players as last season have now much improved and began to play football this season.

I'd forgotten that.

Brilliant!

Even better than the moment when Dick Knight sacked Martin Perry.

Proof, if anyone still has doubts, that these events are far better not being broadcast live on SCR.

Has that leach gone? Great that should save some money. I do wish I had gone to see that.
