Given that 60-69 year olds are the wealthiest age group, to me it seems iniquitous to offer them any non-means-tested discounts.

https://www.fca.org.uk/publications...wealth-in-britain-preparedness-for-retirement

Clearly there are many poor over-65s, but there are also many poor working-age people too, and they don't receive a guaranteed pension income.

Think you're right in this context - most O65s (ie the retired) won't have seen any change in income as a result of the pandemic (pensions haven't been impacted), and ironically have probably spent a lot less with all those coffee shops being shut....it's the employed/redundant/furloughed that need the help. PB was certainly hinting at some measures to help - I'm expecting little or no increase in ST costs and probably greater flexibility to sell ST seats to recoup costs if people can't afford to go at least.

Whilst I didn't want to get drawn into arguing my point, did you actually read the content in your own link, or just skim and think it supports your argument. It doesn't. There are many over 65's who have one or two extra jobs to maintain a reasonable standard of living and afford the extras in life. There are many who rely on over 65's discounts without qualifying if they were means tested. To keep this on topic, all I opined was that as part of the pricing review, it might be a nice gesture to offer over 65's discounts throughout the ground for the fans return season only. Rather than just for 95% of the ground as at present. There might be some who have lost modest second or pension top up jobs in the pandemic who would also appreciate a little one-off help. Don't worry, I have debated the WSL pricing policy with PB and I can assure you it won't happen. A debate about the rights and wrongs of offering un-means tested discounts to over 65's for entertainment and other services probably belongs in the bear pit which I'm pleased to say I rarely frequent.

Who knows, each individual is different. But just prior to the pandemic, I know several were struggling to meet the cost in WSL and despite PB's arguments against it, it has always seemed iniquitous to me to not offer over 65's discounts throughout the ground.
As these are prime seats, PB and anyone else in charge, will keep these seats at a premium. With the fact that many people would pay the full price for these, they will remain the same.

My point was that pensioners are on a minimum fixed income, whether that's the state pension or a much higher pension, so not a lot if anything has changed for them.

If you want premium seats, you have to pay the going rate along with everyone else. If you want a discount, you have the choice of 5 stands (including uppers) and this season will probably be a really good opportunity to move if you want or need to.

Personally I wouldn’t want to see a further blanket discount to all 65+ season ticket holders for 2021/22. They already pay 1/3 less.

Some may have lost those all important second jobs, but once furlough ends there’ll countless families hit hard with job losses. Many will be forced to jack in their Amex s/t’s.

Thanks for posting Bozza, I was unable to get to see/hear it due to other commitments so I'm very grateful, as many of us are.

I've had many e-mail exchanges with Paul Barber since he first arrived, and over the months and years I've found him to be an honest, captivating and positive force for the good of the Albion. As he says it's been 9 years since he first arrived, that must have surprised quite a few fans who perhaps didn't see him staying for anywhere near that length of time. I think it just goes to show that we have a stabalised, dedicated and loyal team at the helm of the club, long may it be so. :albion2:

Lucky to have him, during last year’s first lockdown, he stood out on national radio as the great communicator for the entire EPL.

Certainly made the club more professional, giving TB the expert CEO to make his life easier. Early successes were sacking Azure Catering and dealing with Poyet’s ego.

That pensioners are on average the wealthiest age group is simply a fact - I just grabbed the first web page which stated it.

If you want to look at it from the other direction and consider poverty, again pensioners are better off than the population as a whole.

https://fullfact.org/economy/poverty-uk-guide-facts-and-figures/

Case in point - my own parents are living it large on their generous DB pensions, topped up with the state pension, sitting on years of investment growth, no mortgage to pay, etc. yet they still qualify for the £200 winter fuel payment simply because they're old.

Yes, there are poor old people, but there are far, far more poor young people.

I really like PB. Such a great CEO for our club. Imagine some of the absolute toads at other clubs.

Great to hear the comments about Maty.

And pleased that people who don't want to drink the milk of other mammals will continue to be catered for :)

No mention of bottle tops tho?

I came across this petition from 2013 :lolol:, 40 people wanted PB sacked.
