Not sure he's made any contact with the player though has he?
Yeah but if it was an Arsenal, City, Liverpool player against us it would have been a pen. Got to keep the top 3 in contention and the refs are biased to them. VAR would not have overturned the on field decision. I am a cynical old bastard

Sorry, I left my foil hat on the train yesterday. Or maybe one of those Halifax fans nicked it. Probably one of the small kids.
Never leave home for a match without mine

The whole Burnley crowd arrived with theirs yesterday given all the penalty appeals :lolol:

Trouble is we're fannying around at the front as well these days.
What else can we do against teams that have no greater ambition than to park the bus? It's not like we have the guile to break the deadlock with an incisive corner or inspired free kick now is it? We don't even have a natural born winger that isn't in the treatment room. To channel my inner Renton: it's a shite state of affairs to be in Tommy...

Very true but just maybe take a shot. It could take a deflection or the keeper might fluff it. We do need to get better people on the ball as I totally appreciate that at Brentford it only kept opening up for Igor.

Well, anything else would be a start. Just doing something that isn't working, and doing it again and again in the hope that some day it will work ................... well, that doesn't work very well!

I think these days, we’re far from the team who others would park the bus against as you say. Teams can and do positively attack us, and are rewarded handsomely with own goals and gifts regularly.

The biggest thing that struck me last night was the complete lack of fannying around at the back, with virtually every England goal kick being booted up the pitch, with no real target other than somewhere in the oppositions half. Its been a long time since Ive seen a match where that has been the only way of getting the ball back in play and it made me realise (again) that whilst a good old hoof has its place, playing out from the back is much better.

England must have given up possesion 70-80% of the time after those kicks, and on the occasions they did get first touch very little attacking threat came from it- contrast that to the goals, attacks, possion retained from when Albion play out. Whilst at times it seems very risky, there can be no doubt when done properly the risk/reward is well worth it

Fannying about at the back = playing football
Hoofing it = kicking football

Choice is usually made based on whether you think you're shit or not.

..... and to surrender possession so cheaply every time to the Spaniards who know how to use the ball, probably couldn't believe their luck that they were being given the ball without having to press overly hard and who proceeded to use the ball to great effect all over the pitch. And the thing is, it must have been a "tactic"!!!
