Jonathan Pearce has a season ticket, as does Rodger Daltrey (or did) but both are fans of other teams too.

I’ve seen the funny bloke with the beard from 8 out of 10 Cats in the North Stand. Think his name’s Joe, but is a Gillingham fan apparently.

Sure I saw somewhere that some northerner in Emmerdale supported us because he went to one of the universities. Maybe I made that one up in my head.

Danny Noble: Cartoonist, artist and illustrator of Adrian Edmundsons kids books, also lead singer of the Meow Meows. She even drew scenes of her enjoying the Goldstone in her youth, in her new biographical graphic novel 'Shame Pudding'. I have plugged her award nominated book on other threads as I appear in it several times and always in an Albion shirt (Also holding a spliff so my wife won't let me show my kids).

I drive past Roots hall regularly and they have “moments from Southend history” on big paintings outside a kebab shop...it features a defeat against Liverpool in the 1976 FA cup ( attendance 28,000) and league 1 playoffs.

When we’re they “big time Charlie’s” I think Mr. blood vessel dreamt it.

I can cite Johnny Saunders (sports person on Radio 2 Chris Evans show in the morning), Mark Williams (Comic Actor from the Fast Show and other stuff, actually a WBA fan but allegedly watches the Albion), a chap who used to be in the Bill and Ralph Brown (another actor, various stuff and a Green Party activist according to Wikipedia.

So that makes 7 (8 if Woody Fatboyslimcook - Ball confirms his allegiance to the cause).

100% true story about suits you sir Mark Williams....... I was south stand B block at Withdean in the elements, but my now deceased Grandad had his STH in middle of North with the roof. He'd offer it to me if he couldn't go and in a dire 0-0 bore draw in early 2002 against Wrexham, i was in his seat. In the row behind and about 5 seats to the left was Mark Williams........ as it was such a dire game it was pretty quiet and devoid of atmosphere, the few hundred Wrexham fans all started to sing "you're supposed to be at home" when a slightly inebriated Mark Williams, stood up on his tod pointing towards the wrexham fans, and in perfect symmetry with the wrexham fans singing the final "you're supposed to be at home", he shouted back "and you're supposed to be a sheep" then sat down again.

About 8-10 years ago, I took my uncles season ticket seat in North stand at Withdean, Mark Williams sat about 10 seats away...... I will never forget that day, we were playing Swansea, the withdean atmosphere was quiet and muted from the home fans, all you could here were the Swansea singing

" you're supposed to be at home "....


and at the end of the second lower monotone " you're supposed to be at home ". Mark Williams stood up, pointing to the away fans in the east stand, and shouted

" you're supposed to be a sheep "

Had a chat with Mark a few times around that era as we lived near the Lion and Lobster until 2002 and he used to drink there and the Robin Hood (and, er, everywhere else) which were my locals. If he was only slightly inebriated it was a good day - loved a shant at that time. Lovely bloke as I recall and funny in real life.

Wow great memory! Or serious detective work. Now I'm confused! Must be age. Yesterday as I thought about it (another ten years on) Convinced it was Wrexham 0-0, why I wrote Swansea before? lord only knows. It was definitely a Welsh team!

Bumped into him at the pub a few times, he supports Gillingham but lives down here and is mates with a few Albion fans so occasionally goes.

I have no idea about that - but sat with him in the east stand a few years back.
Nice bloke brought his young lad along as well.
He bumped into a Sheffield Wednesday fan outside the stadium once - also a Coronation Street actor by all accounts.

Used to see him quite a lot in Co-op on Blatchington Road in Hove. He was a fan of the reduced price veg shelf.
