Ok, I know it may never happen with David Gold or that the stadium will be called something corporate. But hey lets just imagine.

David Gold buys the Albion and funds in full the new Falmer stadium. What should the Stadium be called?

Should it be thanks Dick for seeing us through the dark times and your place in the history is cemented with the naming of the new stadium after you or

Thanks David Gold, you paid for the stadium so your ego should be massaged with the naming of the stadium after you. Plus it has a link back to the Goldstone

The <Insert Corporate Sponsor Name Here (There's Bound To Be One)> Goldstone Stadium

or

The <Insert Corporate Sponsor Name Here (There's Bound To Be One)> Sussex Stadium

Just IMHO, of course. Maybe a Dick Knight stand would be appropriate, but no need to name the whole thing after any one person.

Could it be the "Not another bloody thread on the name of the new Falmer Stadium' Stadium, has a nice ring to it

I don't think there should be any reference to The Goldstone in the name. If anything, the opening of the new stadium closes the Goldstone chapter. I like the idea of having Sussex in the title, afterall, it has only been possible with the help of many thousands people from across Sussex and/or those born in Sussex and since moved away.

Rationally ... the correct answer is that it will be named after the commercial organisation that is prepared to pay the most for the privilege of their name being used.

For example ... Barclays Bank are paying the New Jersey Nets $400 million over the next 20 years for the naming rights of their future Brooklyn home (The Barclays Centre).

Sentimentally ... the name should be one that is chosen by the fans as an expression of our feelings towards the Club.

Obviously the sponsors name will be name of the stadium. Whilst I understand about the Goldstone nostalgia it really needs to be consigned to history. Sure, the North Stand was fun but it was never the best of stadia.

I hope Knight has a stand named after him, we wouldn't have a club were it not for him

Hmmm. Neither of those exactly roll off the tongue, do they.

You could have the "Dick Stand"

Or even better, the "Dick Standing Area"
