Assuming the business plan will require a concert or three per annum in the summer what sort of capacity for a gig bearing in mind the pitch is used.

Perhaps around 30 - 40 thousand tickets ?

It will be more or less the same capacity as football matches. Although people can go on the pitch one of the stands will be lost for the stage and the exits will only be designed for 23,000(ish).

Get Slayer to play it. You would probably only get a 1000 people turn up but it would be louder than hell.

I have heard the Ozzfest 2009 is being lined up, featuring Marilyn Manson, Nine Inch Nails, Megedeath, and a dozen Norwegian thrash metal bands. The Flamer chapter of the Hells Angels are in charge of security, and there will be camping available for 3000 motorbikes and 100 hearses.

Tickets are already available in the Swan.

Here's what the fat man said:

25. All Outdoor Events within the Stadium shall only take place between 9.00am and 11.00pm Monday to Saturday, and between 9.00am and 10.30pm on Sundays and Bank Holidays.

26. The total number of Outdoor Events within the Stadium shall not exceed in any period of 12 months 50 of which not more than two shall be music concerts.

43. No event shall take place at the Community Stadium with an
attendance in excess of 22,500 people.

Although there seems to be a sub-condition that allows additional music concerts if agreed by the Local Planning Authority.

If we ask really nicely, we should be able get for a 'Supporters Bar' to be built in one of the stands - selling real ale (not that putrid gassy piss that passes for beer - Carlsberg, Tetley, John Smith, Fosters, Worthington etc I'm looking at you as guilty parties). If the bar is big enough (say a capacity of 400 or so), what's to say we can't hold gigs in there?

No restrictions with the noise. Some great up-and-coming bands could play there (and some rubbish ones no doubt), the club wold clean up on beer sales and entry money. Face it, Brighton is crap for the quality and diversity of live venues. The opportunities are endless.

It would probably piss the Concorde II off, mind.

Lets face it give it a year and the timing orders will be removed.

People said that about Punchestown Racecourse and yet we're still stuck with crappy early closing gigs - too earlier to be good but too late to get back into Dublin for last orders :(
