Assuming an August 7th, 2010 date as the goal for the first regular season game at Falmer, then we are officially 888 days away from it!

For me this would be an especially amazing day, as it would be my 23rd birthday!

Can we please have a countdown of days left in the blue sky of the NSC logo?

Surely the first game will be a friendly sometime in July?

sorry meant first regular season game! surely 888 doesn't seem that far away? I think it deserves a countdown, can that be so difficult to rig up Bozza? Would make me feel a bit more optimistic everyday seeing us closer and closer....and then to see the progress via webcam!

If the earthmoving starts in November 2008 that means they have just over a year to build the thing if it is to be ready to be signed off for summer 2010. Seems improbable to me that a building of that size can be completed in 14 months.

Terrible arithmetic, try again.

MP said it would be 18 months including the 'test events to get relevant certificates'

Then they are f***ed for an August start. No way they will get fire Safety Certificates for a 22'000 stadium / conference centre / education facility signed off in 2 months, especially as there will still be snagging work going on.

Takes about 3 months to get a FSC for a community centre with a max capacity of 100. If there's no problems.

Does that mean we all get invited to jump up and down and sway left and right in the stands like they did when 'Old' Wembley was built?

Great! So the Fire Brigade are going to be the killjoys in all this then?

Can't they work faster?

A couple of years ago we would of all settled for planning pemission alone,
the biggest thing for me after all these years is that in November this year, the dream will begin!

Snagging won't delay anything. You get "Practical Completion" with snagging issues still outstanding, and that is when the fire certificates etc start getting sorted out.

Wembley still had snagging issues for months after they started playing there.

I guess thats tongue in cheek, but I'll answer it anyway!
ESF&R can only start once the builders have finished. They'll have to check every fire exit, every exec box, every spinkler head, every hydrant, dry riser, high riser, water main and the water pressures. They'll want to check and re- check access onto the site when empty and when full. They'll want to plan for every scenario from a crowd disaster with trapped people, to a major fire, and co-ordinate plans with police and ambulance. Its not a quick job when you are looking at a multi-use facilty capable of accommodating 22'000 people, and definatley not one that you want to f*** up. It'll be worth it when it is all done. I guess we just all need to be patient and let the finaciers, the builders and the Emerg. Services to their stuff.

FSC don't exist anymore. Risk assessments are done by the occupier.
The local authority and Fire Safety officer will be working with the architects and building projects as it happens, and so will be ready as the completion is done.

(I've just rung my son to check before I typed this)

Amazing how people spout non-facts to prove their point.

I guess different authorities work in different ways. We still issue them up here - my Div Commander is currently working on one for a massive new public building in the county.
This is not an official view, but simply my own, but I am glad that we do them independently of architects and building project officials, as they are usually on big bonus' to get everything signed off early or on time, and that can sometimes cloud judgement of what really matters.
