Falling out of love with the Albion.

This coming season will be my 25th watching the Albion and while we've never fallen out of love we have had the odd tiff over the years.

The Albion and I got through the dark days in the final seasons of the Goldstone and at Gillingham but at times the Withdean experience was grim. Mickey's return was a particularly bad time - sitting there in the rain watching the most awful brand of football played by a bunch of loaned players who couldn't care less.

time for bed!

Missed that completely.......................................not sure if I am impressed that someone should resurrect an obscure post four years later or saddened

I was searching to see if there was already a thread about Falling Skies when I happened upon this thread. It just got me thinking and made me appreciate more what we have now.

Seem to have fallen out of love with the pre-season friendlies this season for some reason. Probably because it doesn't feel at all like Summer. Or maybe its because so many are midweek evening kick-offs. Used to love the Worthing match which was always a super sunny Saturday and the proper start to the season. Curiously indifferent to the Chelsea friendly, and not just because I'm out of the country that day, prob would have given it a miss anyways.

FDM's testimonial on the other hand...

It was getting that way for me around the time of the Auto Windscreens Shield game at Luton and then a 4-0 defeat in February 2009 against Crewe, I think after MA had been sacked. I was going through depression at the time and as I drove home, I realised I just didn't care, even though we looked certain to get relegated. I think this was about only the time I've felt like this. A few weeks later, having decided to leave the Home Office and do a Masters degree, then the battle to avoid relegation, and the excitement all came back. Mind you, when I first went to Gillingham, having missed the 1997-1998 season (various reasons - I won't bore you with them), and realised I didn't recognise half the team, I found it hard to be enthusiastic, and was particularly brassed off with a feeble 3-0 defeat at Southend. Too busy doing a BA degree after that, but apart from one season, I've been a STH since that season.

you needed to put up a big signpost for idiots like me saying "old thread...........don't jump in with both feet"

PS. I struggle to remember 4 years ago - what was happpening to prompt the thread? Was it Adams MarkII and the descent into hell?
