It makes me laugh, the government (and this applies to all governments of the last 30 years) saying "smoking is bad, we should try and make people stop" whilst trousering HUGE amounts of tax from tobacco (I think I read they collect three times as much tax as the total cost of treating smoking related illnesses). If they were serious, they would take the very bold decision and ban the sale of tobacco products altogether.

That is what the packets will look like here too , the logo and associated colours will disappear. At present the graphic images are only on the back of the packet.

the objective of this is to supposedly to discourage young people taking up smoking in the first place. because obviously seeing diagonal stripe of Lambert and Butler, the red logo of Marlboro or the gold of B&H makes all the difference when poncing a fag off anyone with some or nicking them. its daft. once smoking, i dont see the packaging makes much difference, only some brand loyalty but thats still going to apply with white boxes being asked for by name.

as with happypig, shit or get off the pot. but they'll lose billions in taxes they cant afford to, so fanny about on the issue.
