He played in Japan and we extended his contract. I doubt he will start many games but he’s another place on the bench leaving fewer chances for others.
I completely agree with his squad place assessment.

However if Milner is a genuine contender for a starting place with no injuries - we are in for a ride this season!

Have faith in the system.

What we aiming for? To be able to field the best possible team we can.

Think back to when Maupay left. He hadn't got any worse. It was just that the team had got better.

Buonanotte has been a great player for us, but maybe we are now aiming even higher.

Name 5 matches where ‘Buonanotte has been a great player for us’? He has potential but the over the top reaction to this is classic NSC.

He’s only 19 though! So no reason to contemplate selling him just yet.

I also wonder if it will affect the future of Gilmour and or Sarmiento.

Both maybe more likely to stay?
Evening Nobby...you must not speculate or assume on this Forum otherwise Couldn't be Hyypia and the likes will come down on you like a ton of bricks. It's only hard facts they want. How dare the likes of you and me have an opinion or dare to speculate!!! I got lambasted last night calling the Undav POSSIBLE transfer saga weird. I would like to see Gilmour stay but would be excited if we could get Gruda or a Ferdi deal done. Would of loved to have had Gallagher or McTominay but except that's not the Brighton way. Anyway I mustn't ramble on otherwise I will upset the NSC Patron Hyypia yet again!

We’ve already signed three midfielders this summer. (Gomez, Wieffer, Yalcouye). Wieffer is almost certainly a Hurzeler starter. And presumably that’s also where Hinshelwood, Milner, Baleba will be competing to play. With (possibly) Sarmiento and (definitely) Enciso and Pedro and Minteh (sometimes) looking to fill that #10 role.

And we now have Adingra, Minteh, Mitoma and Maybe March as wingers

Where does Buonanotte fit in amidst that little lot ? Given he’s never looked like a nailed on starter in his time with us however promising.
Only one of those is a starter imo and that is Weiffer but he is a CDM/CB - that is not where Hinsh or Milner play.
Baleba is the real alternate there but there is no reason why they can’t rotate - that’s the point of squad depth.

Minteh will also be a starter but he plays on the Right Wing so won’t be competing with Mitoma or Adingra (who could go out on loan of our existing wingers but I would prefer to keep him). With March still recovering from longterm injury, we will still need another backup Right Winger in addition to Minteh which Adingra could provide as could Osman (unless he too goes out on loan)..

Ensico is a definite starter - but I see him more in a lateral LMF role in FH’s set up (rather like Milner) so not competing with Pedro or Minteh. Not sure Sarmiento will be staying either, he also could be looking at another loan.

Gomez and Yalcouye will go out on loan also imo or at least won’t be regular starters.

In short, with March still injured, if the above go out on loan/join U21s, we have on the Right Wing, Minteh and Osman/Adingra, on the Left Wing, Mitoma and Adingra.

I seem to be going against the grain of NSC in that I’m quite pro the departures of both Gilmour and Buonanotte. I think their relative abilities have been hugely over inflated on here and if we can bank some decent money to sign upgrades, I’m all for it. Buonanotte has had about two strong games in the PL but apart from that has looked bang average and showed nowhere near the potential of Enciso. The Messi comparison is hilarious.

And whilst sad to see Gross go though, I think it was a good time for him to move on and we got a good price.

Loving our recruitment work this summer, I believe we’ve already made some sensational new signings and I’m massively excited about this coming season.

I’d be interesting to know TB’s reasoning for allowing this departure with the option to make it permanent.

To me this kid has the clear potential to have it all, a game-changer. TB and his analysis must deem otherwise.
Perhaps it’s a gamble.

We don’t seem to have been getting a lot of value out of our loans recently. Sarmiento to West Brom sticks out. He then went to Ipswich but arguably did not get the amount of minutes he deserved because they had no investment in him.

Perhaps our tactics on loans have changed since Undav’s went so well. Give the loaning club some sort of buy-in and they’ll give the player more minutes and development.

I really don't want Buonanotte to leave. He's got so much potential, and I think being thrown in at the deep end last season (i.e., being used more than he would have been had so many other players not been injured) will prove to have been the making of him. I think he's gonna tear up whichever league he starts the season in.

All that said, Dutch fans on Twitter are saying that the buy clause is €16m and that that's more than double the highest fee Feyenoord have ever paid for a player. So they seem to think there's next to no chance of them actually buying.

The buy clause disappoints me.

Going on loan is fine but the buy clause suggests that he's not high in our plans and that's a surprise. While it's true he's not had too many complete games, he's still only 19 and nearly every time he plays he does something to highlight his quality.

In that respect he reminds me a lot of Mac Allister in his first 12-18 months with us. So to effectively say that we're happy to let him go and to let him go for a low fee is just really disappointing for me from the outside looking in.

Playing consistently somewhere will give us a good insight into what level he is at. One area he definitely needs to develop on to make it in the prem is general strength. He's gets pushed off the ball fairly easily (not through his lack of effort).

Agree, though I think Buononotte offers more from a squad perspective than Gilmour, so would keep him on that basis.

I’d be happier for Sarmiento to go in all honesty.

He’s ok but he’s still developing. Not that quick and not that strong (yet). And would have gone on loan last season but for Enciso’s injury.

The buy back is a little odd in that context but the loan makes sense (and the buy back will if we get in better while making a nice kerching on FB).
