TBF the 9th was unconvincing. Think we could've still finished 13th going into the final half of the season. Still an improvement though.
Yeah, we finish where we finish so it can't be argued with but that final match put a lovely sheen on a season where we could very easily have finished bottom half again. Not a criticism of GP by the way but just a reminder how small the margins are.

What I find odd about the Buananotte situation is that he had already had his bedding in time getting used to a new country and the Premier League and we shipped him out on loan to make space for players that need a bedding in period.
Yes. But stating the obvious here, I think the club obviously thought the players we brought in were further ahead in their development (read: better) than Facundo

We were improving then, year on year!

We actually finished his first season 15th, his second season 16th and then 9th, so we went backwards in the second season in terms of league placing, we finished both seasons on 41 points but improved out GD from -15 to -6 in the second season, scoring one more goal but conceding 8 less goals. So his second season could be considered a very slight improvement, despite not being reflected in the league table.

TBF the 9th was unconvincing. Think we could've still finished 13th going into the final half of the season. Still an improvement though.

It was very tight between 9th and 14th just 4 points covering those places, we sat in 10th place at the start of the final day and we could have finished anywhere between 8th and 14th. In fact I think we may have been as low as 13th in the live table at half time on that final day as we were losing 1-0 to West Ham.

The way RVN scapegoat him I’m surprised we left him there to have a few appearances off the bench. That wasn’t the idea he was starting and playing well.

I agree , can't be good for his development and the replacements are either not fit or so far not an improvement.

Reports said we couldn't recall him as the recall clause could only be activated if he'd not played a certain number of games/minutes and he'd surpassed that.

However with RVN moaning about wanting another loan and he couldn't because of the 2 player rule, I don't know why Leicester didn't approach us to mutually terminate the loan. Maybe there were some financial penalties for doing so and they couldn't afford to send him back.

I do wonder going forward if we might build a change of manager clause into loan agreements so if a player does surpass the required number of games/mins it resets if the club changes manager and they have to play a certain new number based on how many games remain between the change and the transfer window.

good post. if its a contract between two clubs then I would have thought it was renegotiable if both clubs agree. I wonder how much money is involved , I would think it was peanuts compared to what we spent in the summer. I am a big fan of Buonanotte, and think he is of more use to us now than O'Riley or Gruda .

Agree would rather him than Gruda or MO who looks a bit lost at this level. Surprised we took a punt from the SPL.
MO looks like a player who would do well in a good team where there is a strong midfield behind him but really don't see him with a physical presence in midfield. It might be me but from the dizzy heights of WSU he runs like dean wilkins, its the way h holds his arms I think.

So what? Whether you were convinced or not we finished in the top half of the PL/Division 1 for the first time ever. Well done the team; well done Potter.
Does anyone really want to quibble about that?

By the end of Potter’s time we had developed into a really good team. 30 points from Potter’s final 14 league games (end of one season start of the next).

Edit: we also scored 27 goals in those 14 games.
