We've played this before, with broccoli, but for those who missed it, here are the rules.

1. You must post a fact about URUGUAY.
2. Whenever you write URUGUAY, it must be in CAPITALS, otherwise your FACT is null and void.

I'll kick off.

URUGUAY won the football World Cup each of teh first twice times they entered (1930 and 1950).

URUGUAY's capital is 120 miles across the River Plate from Buenos Aires and looks rather a nice place in the photos.

FACT.

A man can have up to THREE WIVES at the same time in URUGUAY, but is only allowed to have children with ONE of them.

In 2005, URUGUAYAN international Alvaro Recoba was sentenced to 14 months in a Montevideo jail for fathering a daughter with his third wife, when he already had two sons from his first wife. He was however released on appeal after serving just 5 months of his sentence, in order to play in a World Cup qualifier against Columbia in Bogota. He was sent off in the 12th minute for violent conduct, and URUGUAY went on to lose 3-1.

The population of URUGUAY is smaller than that of Scotland's. Despite this they've won the World Cup twice - which kinda pisses all over Scotland's excuse for why they're crap at football: "Och we're only a wee nation y'ken."
