I have a massive problem, so thought I would turn to the wonderful people on NSC for help and advice.

Basically, I have had messages posted on my facebook profile from a mystery person claiming that I have had an affair and asking 'does your girlfriend know'.

Problem is, I haven't had an affair. So I am a bit worried that somebody is out to get me, but I don't really know why. Obviously this has upset my girlfriend, and I hope that she isn't drawn in by this attack on me - over the last 3 years I have grown to quite like her! I am worried that this person may contact her and start putting (untrue) ideas into her head.

Needless to say, I have since changed my security settings.

Probably just a bot or something. Get them loads on bebo and myspace.

I don't think it is a bot - they have been drawing on my grafitti wall (which I have now uninstalled) and suchlike too.

I am pretty sure it is a wind-up/prank, but it is a bit harsh and could ultimately end up costing me my relationship if it carries on.

Scary!

Good suggestions - next question, how do I block somebody?

So far I have removed anyone I don't know well from my friends (in my previous job I worked with students, so often used facebook as a tool for contacting people - hence I have a lot of 'friends' that I do not know). I have also put my settings so that only freinds can view my profile and send me private messages.

I don't really want to tell my other half to block people - I don't want to look like I have anything to hide - because I don't! I have told her about what has happened, so that she shouldn't be surprised if she suddenly gets random messages.

NSC's Most Stalked
I had problems with a facebook stalker who terrorised my female friends and reduced them to tears with a string of private messages.

It was horrible and it lead to me also taking off loads of my contact details and major details that could end up in id theft.

I also now dont put what i am actually doing in my status, but just put funny stuff or song lyrics

Block them. I'm sure your other half will realise it is some idiot messing with you.

I think this is bloody hilarious. Facebook is a play area for children. Get used to it or just unsubscribe. Simple.

I thik that I will unsubscribe - can't talk for my (hopefully still) girlfriend though. I just don't understand why somebody would do this.

Because there are just too many sad petty minded idiots that think they are clever because they don't have to live with the consequences.

presumably this could cause a nightmare for the person that it is accused you slept with - have you spoken to them? (if you know them)

If this girlfriend is willing to take the postings of a child on a message board over your personal word then I would get shot immediately.

Come on kids lets have a reality check. I cant believe you see this as a 'massive problem' and a 'nightmare'.

Get a grip.
