I think what's brilliant is the authority, he's in charge and the players know it - very much like our Micky (thought I'd slip that one in there) he demands respect from them, he tells them what he wants and they do it otherwise they may not be in the team. Ferdinand echoed this in his interview afterwards.

On capello ... too right!

On Adams.... has anyone told Hawkins and Virgo?

Last night was a game we would have lost two years ago and even Saturdays game could have ended a draw. What Capello is doing with England (for the first time in a very long time) is teaching us how to win ugly. We don't have to play well as a team. We just have to play disciplined football AS A TEAM. Heskey is the prime example of this. On sheer ability Heskey would have been about 5-6th in line but hes just like ronsil.. he does what it says on the tin. Ugly and very disciplined. Just what we want. Right now we look exactly like previous Italy teams. Winning games without playing that well. I'll live with that thank you.

I half agree with this, when we need to we can win in this way, but some of the football played last night was very good.

We have played poor opposition other than Croatia where i admit we were terrific.

Despite the 2 most recent wins, both first half performances were pretty average at best and against stronger opposition we could well have been in trouble.

Creedit to the man for making changes etc at half time though.

As i say jury still out for me, we have beaten 2 very average sides in my opinion, and all of a sudden people think we have not only already qualified but are shoe ins for the world cup !.....stready on is all i am saying...
And so it begins ...

So you don't think England should be beating Kazakhstan, Belarus and Andorra, give me a break
You don't appear to be able count. That's THREE opponents. What about the small matter of 35 match unbeaten Croatia, away, and soccering them off the pitch 4-1?

You'd expect that too then? Give me a break.

Of course the guy's a winner. Sven was good too but Fab's more tactically astute with his subs and a better motivator. Can't believe people were jumping on his back after a few meaningless friendly results - friendlies are a chance to play about a bit and get things wrong. He's got results when it mattered. I don't think Belarus away is that easy a tie either, under SpackClaren it would have been a 1-1 draw (anyone rememeber Israel and Macedonia?) and under Sven I think we would've scraped a 2-1.

This is true, Belarus are not a poor side at all. They drew with Holland in the last euro qualifiers and I beleive may have also drawn with Germany recently. By all accounts they were very unlucky losing in the Ukraine to a dodgy last minute home penalty. It is possible they may take points of both the Ukraine and Croatia.

I meant that Capello's track record - THROUGHOUT HIS ENTIRE CAREER (which is what "track record" means!!) - is utterly beyond dispute.

They beat Holland...

I was sceptical when he was appointed but had to admit the lack of English managers made a foreign manager the only solution. Capello has had his problems and may not yet have solved all our problems in all areas yet. However, his attitude is superb in that he never sits on his laurels and is looking to improve every time. He seems to command respect from the players and the press as a bonus. His commitment is absolute and I doubt if you will hear any tabloid stories about Fabio shagging b list tv presenters or spilling his guts to phoney arab sheikhs.

As for results, its easy to say that we have not really met a decent team yet, however, in recent qualifying matches, Germany only beat Wales 1-0 at home, Surely a disaster if it had been England - Wales ? Hungary could only beat Malta( pop 400,000) 1-0...and Italy could only draw 0-0 away in Bulgaria.....

So far so good, I'm on Fabio's side

You have to say he's done well, but I won't go overboard by us beating the likes of Andorra (there are easy games in International football). The Croatia result was a cracker though.

With EXACTLY the same set of players that didn't qualify for Euro 2008 because - in your words - the players weren't good enough INDIVIDUALLY :lolol:

Thankyou. All i am asking for is a considered response and for people not to get carried away, if you read my initial post properly you will see i am more than happy with how things are going and the progress being made, but just because we have beaten 2 poor sides in Andorra and Khazakstan, a reasonable side in Belarus and a very good Croatia side dosent make us world beaters... we havent even got out of the group yet.

A great start but there is a long way to go.
