Was fence before last night and remain there. There are well documented reasons for reservations and reasons for optimism. Last night showed among other things ability to pick a suitable starting 11, make effective substitutions, play effectively for 90 minutes and to close up a match, so more, please, and let's see at the end of the season.
And that’s where the reservations come. It’s probably the first time we’ve put a sustained performance together over close to 90 minutes, with sensible tactics and a sensible team, all season. And we did it at home - our home form has been abysmal. We also have to remember that we do have some really good football players - they will win games at times, irrespective of the manager.

Although, and I’ll state this again, we always show up against the bigger sides who are more open. It’s when we come face to face with teams that are willing to be more patient and counter quickly that we struggle. Is he going to be sensible and keep a proper two man midfield in place when we play Southampton, B-Mouth, Fulham over the next 3 games (after Chelsea again on Friday), or is he going to resort to playing his usual 4-1-0-0-0-0-5 formation that leaves us open to a single pass through our back line?

I’m glad we won last night, but I’ve seen too much of the same stuff this season to be back on the fence, let alone “In”. But I’m totally willing to be convinced if he continues such sensibilities and shows he is actually learning.

See @Harry Wilson's tackle thread on **** off bedwetters (y)

Always in.
Why?

He veers between being one of the more characteristic posters on here and a pompous prat. Who needs lectures on their support from an old soak sitting in front of the TV? I would rather listen to the moaners who turn up and who made the trip to Nottingham last week.

I just can’t understand it personally. Did people really think when we hired a 32 year old Coach that he was going to be the finished article? Did people really think he wasn’t going to make mistakes? It makes no sense to me whatsoever, of course he was going to. I cannot fathom why anyone can be going ‘back and forth’ on him after 6 months. The whole point is that he is a long-term hire, and it shows a complete lack of understanding of Bloom / Barber’s strategy to constantly be thinking ‘shall we / shan’t we sack him’.

The reactionary nonsense on here from grown adults after we have won / lost football matches has been nothing short of embarrassing.
This. 👏

Add also a young manager bedding into the EPL and working with players in key positions who have little or no experience of the EPL either - mistakes from both were bound to happen.

We have the youngest manager in the Premier League and this season we have the youngest average start up with Bournemouth and Brentford.

We are top of the League in both the number and severity of injuries this season

(Although the ‘reactionary nonsense’ is just NSC being NSC - From what Barber has said, the majority of Brighton fans ‘get it’’)

Is it embarrassing or is it just the kind of thing you expect on a football forum full of opinions? I don’t think it’s much different to the conversation people would have in the pub post match. To be embarrassing would be to suggest that people beyond NSC take a huge amount of notice, which seems unlikely.
I think a fair few on here are like Chris from the Fast Show sketch in the pub. "So it's Banks in goal".

Well I would be embarrassed if I had constantly posted about sacking a 32 year old manager when we were 10th in the Premier League and still in the FA Cup because we'd lost a couple of games and I couldn't control my emotions or accept that success is not a straight line. So yes, it is embarrassing for those people. I honestly don't understand how these people cope in their own personal lives / careers, when their reaction is to give up and tear the whole thing up and start again every time something goes slightly wrong. It must be an absolutely miserable existence.

And from adults who’ve seen pretty much everything when it comes to watching Brighton.

I don’t mean because we were once shit that we shouldn’t have high expectations now, but perhaps a little more patience through some indifferent form. 15 points from the last 14 league games is below expectations but not even close to considering the sack.

I think the Fab in/out threads and over reactions to good and bad results are totally understandable.

We’re all a little bit unsure about how to react as in all honesty we’re carrying out a bit of an experiment that hasn’t been done before. There’s been hardly any other example of a high profile club (which we are these days) who have enjoyed recent success, taking such a punt on such a young, relatively inexperienced manager/head coach.

I’ve never gone so back and forth regarding a manager in my life and still don’t really know what to think! I’m hoping with hindsight, in years to come, we look back on this period as an obviously rocky period in the early days of a very successful period in our history under a manager learning on the job.
Totally this ^^

Obviously you're entitled to your opinion.

Do you know that he, @Harry Wilson's tackle has a lineage that dates back to the Roman times, and Pompous Prat was a well known charismatic empororer often opiniated of VAR in the coliseum

Seems like the Chelsea fans are very much leaning towards Maresca Out. Also, Caicedo is rubbish and him and Fernandez are the worst pound for pound midfield in the Premier League. Dewsbury Hall is a useless waste of money. Sancho is not a Premier League player and Nkunku is an unidentifiable mystery.

And this is all from the literate Chelsea fans in the Guardian comments

Last night was just what the club needed, a real pick me up. I certainly wasn't feeling the love having been in Nottingham last week, but the support was tremendous, notably from the North and I am sure BV would have appreciated them getting behind him in the second half.

It is tedious having to plough through 50 odd posts all saying the same thing, regardless of who the poster is, so I get the frustration, but just think there are better things to focus on right now and if anyone is looking for an easy target, Chelsea have more than there fair share of obnoxious idiot supporters.

The funny thing is that you’re the one being reactionary here and allowing other peoples’ opinions to get to you. I don’t know how you cope in your personal life if this is how you react every time someone disagrees with your viewpoint.

My POV would be that we're only BHAFC, not Citeh or ANother, so there's no need to react like we are if we have an off day.
There's more important things in life
People react, because they can and feed off others negativity and sometimes positivity.
Social media gives these people tool to do so.
No social media, more decent well informed disagreements down the pub.

So we're going to have more off days than good ones, who cares.
I'd rather be a real living Albion fan than some repetitive magnet monkey that latches onto others arguments, all for the sole purpose of a reaction.

If all Albion fans were the same NSC would be boring as fvck 😅

He’s been managing for ten years.

I make it 6 years as a manager.

Pipinsreid: Started as a player coach in 2016 in the 5th tier of German football. Gained promotion to the fourth division, and relegation back to the 5th. Left in 2020.

St. Pauli: Appointed as head coach in December 2022 (was assistant coach prior to that)
