I never thought McKenna was ‘nailed on’. We obviously showed interest, and presumably had discussions, but with Chelsea and Man Utd sniffing around and that Ipswich were playing ‘the loyalty card’ made it a difficult acquisition. The media and various pundits had stated that Brighton was definitely the club that would be the most suitable for McKenna but that bit the dust when he extended his contract with Ipswich.

Indeed. However, Roberto De Zerbi has certainly set the bar high! I hope that doesn’t put too much pressure on the young coach. Luckily, our club is more forgiving than others (Chelsea, Man Utd, etc.)
There was a guy on a Reddit thread who said he "despised his antics on the sidelines" but refused to elaborate. That reference to a 'fiery character' makes me think he might be a bit of a handful
