I’ve got this nagging feeling that dunky sitting on the bench in Germany is bad when Hurzeler is here getting settled in, meeting people etc.

I just have this feeling that Dunky should be here getting to know Herzeler.

Hopefully it will be fine but can’t get it out of my head!

Not remotely worried. Fab will know all about Dunky and they’ve probably spoken multiple times already (on the podcast he says as much). Dunk will be 100% behind him from the off

Having watched this I am a bit worried. Definite Ted Lasso vibes….

I look forward to a 3 season story arc of failure, learning and redemption. Not to mention Lewis Dunk saying “f***” In a gravelly voice at every opportunity.

It’s a shame Trossard’s gone, he’d have been perfect for the Jamie role, and for the first time ever, I feel Tony Bloom suffers by comparison. (to Hannah Waddingham)

These kind of "schooling of morale and ethics" kind of meetings that often happens in the pre-season are not something that looks good in video... but telling them his ideas, his mind set and vision is something that needs to be done. Silly as it can look.

No need to worry. You'll be surprised how much of this sort of thing goes on in football. Today's players, British and foreign, expect it and are used to it from a young age.

It might not be what we British, cynical, middle aged men who grew up in a very different environment like as we're not used to it, but it is the norm in today's professional football/sport and for younger generations.

I think we suffered from a lack of ‘positivity’ from RDZ for the last half a season, and I expect it’s what FH is trying to re-instill.
Setting his values at the start of the season is important. It is what leaders should do at outset. Values being core to what a team is about. The club have them, so surely the first team coach should also.
The one mistake is having the camera rolling when this is being communicated. Certain things need to be behind closed doors.
Agree though, that it does come across as a bit Ted Lasso.
The one player that we really miss out in Japan is Lewis Dunk, who as captain will ‘translate’ positivity to the other players.
Seems as if Adam Webster is taking on this role from what I can see of the clips.

agreed. RDZ was a dick last season at times with his ‘honesty’ and I doubt it was well received, especially when it was often after a bad result / bad run. Sounds like some confidence building is required

I did think, this is probably the sort of stuff that works well in Germany, but most Brits would stare, smile and privately think, "wtf is this psycho babble"

Very cringe American if you ask me. Surely with high level Premier league pros these are just a given
If positivity is a given, how come we spent months watching our boys show through their faces, football and body language that they were miserable and just wanted the season to end?

Nothing you can take for granted. If you watch the body language and communication in some teams, you wonder how anyone dare to play at all. Just look at the England build up play entirely handicapped and paralyzed with Pickford, defenders and Rice showing their frustration towards eachother over and over every game.

By their nature, footballers and other athletes are always close to frustration and you actively need to push how important it is to avoid it.
