Take this season, for example. We played 2 midweek league games in the first 3 months, but we now face ourselves playing 5 midweek games in the next 6 weeks. Madness.

Two are those are rearranged games because of the weather, rather than deliberate scheduling or being moved because of the FA Cup, to be fair.

Try this. At ever round the lowest ranked club still left in hosts the draw. So 'we go now live to the club house of Newhaven Town who have made into the 1st rd draw'. The club then sell raffle tickets to see who makes the draw (the money raised to goes to a Newhaven charity) to buy a ticket you must be a Newhaven resident. GIVE THE CUP BACK TO THE PEOPLE !!

I have said it else where on another similar thread.

1. Ditch the JPT
2. Make the League Cup what it is the Cup for the Football League which doesnt include The Premiership that is run by the FA not the FL.

This is entirely sensible. Can't believe it hasn't already happened. The League Cup would then effectively replace the JPT - except there would be the presence of some big Championship clubs. This would also save Premiership teams from fixture congestion and give the FA Cup a bit more kudos.

That is ok from about round 4 or 5 but in 1st round proper there will be a number of non league sides left in it, the same in rounds 2 or 3 there will be div 1 or Div 2 sides possibly still a couple of non league do we have a draw to see which one hosts it.

Yes, but if you play more games earlier in the season, then there less games to play later on meaning any rearranged games can be moved later in the season with ease without the fixture backlog we have now!

Thing is that getting rid of the JPT takes away one of the few chances lower league teams get to play at Wembley. Look at Luton, their last hurrah before getting relegated was winning the JPT.

Personally, the JPT means naff all to me, however, if we got to the final, I'd love it. I don't think the JPT is a contributing factor.

The magic started going when United decided against entering and has continued to wane all though the 2000's simply because its about money for lower teams. No-one will win it from outside the Premier League for the next 15 years unless something changes drastically.

As for whichever FA muppet suggested seeding, they may as well just start at the semi-final stage with Man Utd, Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea.

The problem with the JPT is that it brings fixtures that even the lower clubs dont take seriously, they try out players, have small attendances so doesnt make money until regional semis and the time could be used for league games. This would then free up time after the winter bad weather to play postponed matches, which inevitably there are.
