And how many of them do you believe actually live in Blackburn or Bolton. I presume you have heard of the invention called an automobile? Just because they play for those clubs doesn't mean they have to live within spitting distance of the ground!

Also, given the choice of playing in Europe and still representing your country or coming to England for slightly more dosh, what would you do as a promising 20 year old?

Please say where within driving distance of anywhere in the North there's a place with a climate like Spain, Portugal or Italy? It doesn't matter if they're living in Alderley Edge or Southport - they'll still freeze when they leave the house. And how many 'promising 20 year-old' foreign internationals play in the Prem? Most of them are well established and are only here for the money - and it's a LOT more than they'd get elsewhere.

What the f*** has climate got to do with it? The climate in the slums of bombay is hotter than here but you wouldn't live there out of choice. If you have enough dough then you are going to live in places like Wilmslow and not the two up two down coronation street type abodes in the likes of Bolton and Blackburn.

Victor Moses age 21 Wigan.
Hernandez, just turned 23
N'Zogbia was 18 when signing for Newcastle.
Kanu 23 when signing for Arsenal
John Obi Mikel 18 when signing for Chelsea/Man Utd
Kalou, 20 when signing for Chelsea
Vela, 16 when signing Arsenal
Alex Song 19 when signing Arsenal
Denilson 18
Kolo Toure 20

etc etc.

Of course they are here for the money but they could decide to earn less and play in Europe and still play for their country.

Meopham, Kent.
People attach too much importance to corporate sponsorship influence. If Coke pulled out, Pepsi would jump in. If Mastercard did, Visa would fall over themselves to back FIFA and so on. They were never seriously considering ripping up contracts over such serious allegations that, we must remember, have not been proved.

Really? Ask Tiger Woods how easy it is to replace sponsors once your image is tarnished to the point where they walk away from you.

As for Coca-Cola, their association with FIFA goes back a long way, and their sponsorship money has bailed FIFA out a couple of times, most notably in 1982 when FIFA decided to expand the tournament, and went cap in hand to Coca-Cola for the £40m they needed. To lose a long-standing sponsor like that suggests things have turned pretty dramatically.

You missed Fabregas.

No it doesnt , not in this case, theres a huge difference between agreeing to play games , making donations at grass roots level to local associations and lining the pockets of corrupt association heads, perhaps el pres you should think before you self flagellate ?

You're right there's a huge difference. But none of your accusations can be proved. So I'm afraid your point would only be valid if true. Even so, the FA played the same game - just badly e.g. to a lesser extent / more visible.

In reply, I'd say Golf just isn't the global football that football is. Tiger Woods also admitted the allegations made against him. And things were VERY different back then in terms of revenues football generates (£40 million to sort out the world game? That's less than half the cost of our new stadium!). No, corporates like Pepsico would love to replace Coca Cola etc. But they won't because CC etc had no meaningful intent behind their public statements (distressing etc) this week. Certainly they don't constitute any firm or decisive action to be taken against FIFA. It would almost be as much to their detriment as football's governing bodies to request a divorce.

And before any action would be remotely considered you would of course need to provide, indisputabley, evidence of corruption that implicates a far greater number of officials than have been during this week's "crisis".

I'm afraid Blatter and his cronies remain untouchable whilst our FA's been humiliated. We need to totally re-think our diplomatic strategy. That's if we think there's any point having one? I'd rather we took a back seat and let someone else put their head above the parapet in future. FIFA's one big circus and to think we wield more power than say, San Marino, is probably no longer true sadly!
