What's happened to them this season that they're suddenly doing so well, out of interest?

Combination of Chappers (gonna do well to hang on to him), successful youth team stepping up to the plate (Greg Luer - will get sold for sh1tloads) together with settled team (8 of the 11 starting today have started every key game). Playing high tempo passing game and getting better and better with every game.
In fairness to Chappers, finished 8th 2 years ago, 6th last year so a continual progress albeit no-one could have envisaged just how good this season would be. Playing some fantastic stuff, good crowds, club on the up.

Chris Breach came on as sub today, Paul Armstrong played on Tues (although more involved with the youth set up) and Darren Budd is club captain (but can't get back in the team at present). A few youngsters were also on BHA youth books including the keeper, Josh James, Andy Pearson, and Scott Kirkwood. Joe Keehan is Kevin's son.

You can although probably won't want to. He'll be too busy doing media stuff (Al Jazeera, Tirana Today, Good Morning Ulan Bator, etc) to notice!

Watched Whitehawk v Chelmsford. 0-2 after 4 mins, 3-2 then 3-3 by half time, hawk took the lead again in 2nd half but finished 4-4.

If they make it to the first round proper: are they allowed to play at their home ground? Just wondered where they stand with their synthetic pitch.

Hope they can. Good little club.

Ex football league club (although unfortunately went out of business 20+ years ago and restarted from the bottom), but regularly get crowds of 800-1000 in the Ryman Premier, so hardly a 'good little club'!!!

Well, alright, little by Football League standards!

I was born there so have always had a soft spot for them. Yep, remember Beeney & Gall well. Beeney ended up unwittingly saving the club from a large tax bill. Gall was superb for us in the short time before injury sadly cut his career short. Lightning fast, he was.

I'd be very pleased to see Maidstone get back in the league. I certainly prefer them to Kent's only current Football League club <shudders>

Good stuff, thanks. I guess they're a reasonably well supported (and financially stable) club at that level. They always had reasonable- for non-league- crowds, until their old stadium was sold for development & they ended up playing at Dartford, Sittingbourne and other hovels in the arse-end of Kent. So I suppose that's another reason I have a degree of empathy with them- we of all clubs can identify with that.

Yep. It took them even longer than us to get back to their home town. They had to battle against Great Crested Newts, of all things (as well as the unsympathetic local authorities).
