I think you've decided you don't like my opinion, ignored where I conceded that I could be wrong (see Posh comment) and also overlooked a relevant case study, all whilst being fairly rude in the process.
Yep ticked all the boxes…

The root of the problem is two fold IMO:

1) UEFA have far too much power over domestic leagues. All UEFA competitions used to be straight knock out = far less fixtures. However that also meant less money for UEFA and the 'top' clubs. By European FAs agreeing to expand the league formats even more from next season the 'super league' has affectively been introduced by stealth already.

2) Foreign ownership of English clubs. Why would someone like Todd f***ing Boehley, or FSG, or the Glaziers, or Qatar, or the Saudis, etc, care about the FA Cup? They just see the $ of the EPL and Europe. I'm not 100% against the FA Cup format change but I am 100% against the root reason behind it, I'm very disapointed if BHA voted in favour of this.

Something to ask Barber at the fans' forum?

I find myself in a quandary over this.

I'm not actually adverse to doing away with replays. People talk about them romantically but they were regularly a pain in the arse and the little team invariably lost in replays anyway. In fact, the only one I can remember that bucks the trend was Plymouth beating Derby in a 1984 6th round tie.

Replays played havoc with fixture lists even back in the day (especially with pudding pitches and no undersoil heating) and it wasn't just big clubs being affected. I remember Oldham had two cup runs one year (1989?) and a fixture pile up so bad that they had about 6 games in hand at the end of the season, didn't win them and it cost them the promotion they deserved. (They went up the following year - our Notts Co/Wembley year).

However, what rankles is that this decision has been made by bullying foreign owners with no interest in the culture of the game here. I don't want Saudi or Abu Dhabi or Todd Boehli or anyone like that making these decisions. Don't expect them to ever make a decision for the good of the game in this country. It's all about the bottom line.

How much say did the lower league and non league clubs have in this? It is them that will be most affected. For such clubs an FA cup replay at a big Premiere stadium can be the highlight of their career, and a financial lifesaver. I agree with the person who said to scrap them from the 4th round if you are going to.
None apparently - that's one of the biggest issues with this - that there was no consultation (below Championship level if I heard correctly) at all.

They've destroyed much of the 'magic of the cup' which is often almost as much about the dream of a big club replay as actually having one. Pisspoor decision imo - do it from R4 onwards if it's really about 'big team' fixture congestion.

If they are doing away with replays I hope they are also doing away with extra-time and going straight to pens.

Saying it’s all about the weekend is nonsense when in one round the games will be spread Friday to Wednesday - since when has that been a weekend?

It would be good if the TV bods were a bit more imaginative about their choices instead of it being compulsory for MU and Liv to feature and personally I’d exclude ANY all PL games in Rounds 3 and 4 say

I would deffo still prefer the FA Cup Final as the season end-point and INSIST on it being played at 3pm

Do we know how the Albion voted in this particular consultation? Because if we’ve backed it given where we’ve come from then f*** me that’s tawdry.

Just read all games will now be weekends

So more chances of shocks and weekends re Instated

Only bad thing is the cup final penultimate game of season but overall it enhances the cup for me
I agree; don't understand all the huffing and puffing on here. For every replay with a top premiership club bringing in fortunes, there must be loads more against Grumbledale United which bring in nothing but a few bruises and a glitch in the calendar.

There are no Premiership clubs in the FA Cup. They have their own version in Scotland.

Is the major issue here that there was no vote? If Football League clubs had a say, scrapping replays would have been kicked to the curb.

The one thing we do know is that there are 8 members on the board who ratified the decision. One is Paul Barber.

Not the first time our club who were once the lowest of the low have used it's position in the Premier League to piss on the rest. When Potter said we needed a history lesson, I wonder if he was actually referring to Bloom and Barber?

This decision absolutely stinks and it's not about clubs not being able to win the replays it's about the revenue that is raised that keeps them going for another season or two. If the big six are that worried play your u21 teams the cup will be better without you whilst you pawn yourself to something else

Clubs haven’t voted
A panel has though including 4 premier league reps and 4 efl reps

PB is one of the 4 reps but isn’t voting on behalf of BHA

My thoughts too, IF we did, have we forgotten our routes in the name of money? Most likely when they seem intent on washing our support bringing in a happy clappy tourist atmosphere.

So PB is on the committee that voted for it, what a t**t. Incredible really. Is he what we want? Someone who forgets our roots in the name of money? Can feel a BANNER coming.
