Just bin off the League Cup and elevate the FA Cup.

better to cut back on Europe.

Have only Champions playing in European Cup.

A cup winners cup for cup winners.

And a UEFA cup for League Cup winners and for 2nd to 4th place clubs.

Bring back Intertoto Cup and allow all professional clubs to enter it should they wish. Can be played over the summer and would end pointless friendlies and club tours.

Have a dozen or so UEFA Cup spots to play for.

Precisely.

Dunno what all the moaning about. I fear that some people think that all of society, its institutions, its associations, its narrative, its imperative and it's governance has all been set up with a single and unwavering purpose: to piss off the working man.

:lolol:
But it has! :lolol:

(And whilst I'm an old school 'terraces, flat cap and smell of Woodbines smoke' man and a staunch supporter of the FA Cup, I find I'm strangely ambivalent about this. I want to be opposed but I find I'm a bit 'meh'. It's not like it's come out of the blue, it's only an extension of what already happens. Once they scrapped replays for the Final itself it was only a matter of time before the other rounds followed suit.)

European football continues to expand to the detriment of domestic football...
that was mentioned, though i dont see how UEFA games impact on the earlier rounds. do they mean the meaningless internationals?

I always thought this should happen. None of the other "Big Five" leagues in Europe have a league cup - those that did (Germany and France) abolished theirs. It's pretty pointless to have two domestic cup competitions. But this will never happen due to English football politics.

(It isn't as if we are ever going to win it, anyway.)

Only reason for fixture congestion is far to many clubs in European Competitions which means so many meaningless early games. Champios league will have 4 extra teams and that World club championship that used to have 2 will now have I think 8

Nobody will care about the FA Cup until it gets a billion pound TV deal and the winning team get all their FFP transgressions wiped

Why is everyone moaning? When will people realise the element of ‘sport’ disappeared decades ago. It’s entertainment, that’s all, masquerading as. And controlled by a Ming-like all powerful despot. With no sign of a Flash type character anytime soon!

It was not long ago the FA recognised the lack of significance of the cup and were trying to bring back the magic, now they go the opposite way.

The domestic cup seems to have quite significant relevance in other countries, one only has to see the celebrations in Bilboa a few days ago. It's a big deal in Germany as well. Bending over and taking it up the arse from the EPL has shafted the FA Cup.

That the big clubs will moan about the amount of games at the same time as going to Asia or the states (yes we are the same) to play pre season games and games at the end of the season is just ridiculous

Just read the article and it didn't clarify.

Does this mean it'll be ET then Pens or straight to Pens?

Why not as others have suggested regarding the big six add the two Glasgow ugly sisters, after all any European football that they might have been involved in is well over and gives you eight for the quarter finals, simple really.

It’s just a disgusting decision!
Reminded me of Liverpool charging Shrewsbury for the use of VAR a few years back.

What an absolute joke football has become

Money talks - maybe it’s a small first step of trying to keep the Premier League “elite” from eyeing a future European Super League favourably

The FA is pathetic.
