But then you’re asking the referee to assess the occasion and personal meaning of each individual instance where it happens. Someone’s birthday? A memorial message? Happy anniversary to the wife?

Referees can’t be expected to know or assess what is an “acceptable” reason - hence the blanket ban. And it’s not like it’s a new rule.I realise that,

I realise that, yes, but it still seems a pointless thing to do, at that late stage. I guess I've always been an advocate of the 'rules are there to be broken'.
Maybe that's why I've spent too many years 'inside'. :(
(I really haven't, in case you believe it. :D )

Have any helpful cognoscenti popped onto this thread to announce they "don't give a shit about the FA cup" yet?

Hopefully they would be part of my Ignored Portfolio (which I am prepared to franchise out, for a small consideration).

I agree with you and I could stomach it if the refs are consistent does Haaland get the second yellow for shirt removal I’m not so sure.
I on the other hand am certain that if Haaland is stupid enough to take his shirt off, it will get a yellow, and a red if its his second yellow of the game.

The ref may well give a shrug of his shoulders, as clearly he has no latitude, but Haaland will be walking off.

I didn't watch much and switched off as spoon as MUFC scored the 4th to have a quick prayer that it went to VAR and was disallowed and Liverpool then won on penalties....

I know, but the rule is ridiculous
Yes this. Said immediately he took his shirt off that he was gone. However, in what world do you have to leave the field after a bit of gamesmanship and then celebrating an absolutely iconic goal but not when you full on assault Pascal Gross while playing for Fulham?

Nope, seems everyone so far has been enjoying this round and saying how entertaining the matches have been.

Thank God Liverpool have ben knocked out; it would have been unbearable had they ultimately reached the Final. Klopp's only been there 7 years but the media narrative would have ben unrelentingly all about him and the FA KLOPP Final etc.

Yes - but instead we're going to have to put up (probably) with all the Manchester Derby bollocks that we had last year - and how wonderful it is.

Which is still preferable to Chelsea getting there.

Dewsbury-Hall is looking very good. I think there will be a lot of competition for his signature in the summer.
Leicester will keep him if they can get through June without selling due to FFP issues but I strongly suspect they’ll have to (unless they can convince other clubs to take other players).

In which case, what teams (other than us) are likely to sign him? By all accounts, the majority of our competition will have their own FFP challenges to deal with in June, perhaps KDH won’t be a concern?

Looks like it could be the first ever repeat of a Wembley cup final. I don't think it's happened in the last 100 years or so.

He is the perfect Mac replacement with some added pace. Our season could have been different if we had signed him in January..
