If we had a 40,000 stadium , wouldn’t be a sell out so i think our stadium is probably about right capacity wise for the demand . We might get the odd game where demand is higher but not on a regular basis . That might change in the future but it’s about right for now

Somewhat disagree. We are very limited in how many tickets we can offer opposition fans at the moment for League games (about 2,600). With a larger stadium (35-40k) we could easily sell out most matches and offer away fans more tickets (Man City, Man Utd , Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Newcastle, Everton, Leeds , West Ham, Palace & Southampton would probably shift 5k each time they visit if pricing was right) - it would also offer the possibility of cheaper season tickets for home fans.

The problem would come if we dropped out of the Prem and travel might be an issue with an increased capacity. IMO

Like every other PL Club with a stadium of 30k or more we only give 3,000 tickets to away fans.
That won't change if we have a 40.000 seater Stadium.

If we go into the European Super League, 40,000 won’t be enough. We will need a 3rd tier on the North for starters (and at least 1 extra carriage on each train!)

Untrue. We give away fans (except Palace) 3000 for the league games if they want them, no more, no less.

Only half of E1H is on sale. That's around 200 not for sale although it's all one area and the steps come up in the middle. Guessing segragated there. If W1A is the same, and looks like it, that's 400/500 unsold seats.

It's capped at £30 for all away teams in the PL.

It opened with a 23,000 capacity.
It now holds 31,700

Not sure you're familiar with the rules. In the EPL clubs are obliged to offer 10% of capacity upto 3000. The tickets also have a maximum price of £30. Take Arsenal as an example, if they gave away teams 6000 tickets for every home game then that's 3000 tickets that they can't sell at higher prices to home fans.

People already moan about empty seats in a 32k stadium, imagine the outcry if there were even more in a 40k stadium.

The stadium was never designed to be modular at all. There was provision in the original design for the upper tier on the East Stand and filling in the corners at a later date, but beyond that it would be very difficult to make any major structural changes due to the design. The stadium now holds about 10,000 more people than when it first opened, an increase of approx 50%.

Why on earth would we want away support to be bigger than it is now?
