How fantastic for Grimsby fans and their club, whatever the outcome between us they will most certainly earn a few quid out of it.
It's not that long ago when the bonus of getting the TV money for a FA Cup televised game kept our heads above the water.

Will season ticket holders be given time to claim their seats? Is that the norm?
For the Liverpool game, the club gave STHs first dibs, but they could choose any seat they wanted.

A large number of STHs chose seats that weren't their own - a lot of people like a bit of "stand tourism" for cup games.

I'd guess the club may do the same again, as it seems to be quite popular.

yes cos both manc teams can’t play at home on same day, do you know think we maybe the saturday lunchtime?
Few factors involved, mainly down to the TV selections and with us being the third choice pick, a Sunday afternoon will rate more higher than a Saturday afternoon. Police will also likely request it to be the Sunday as theirs (currently anyways) no railway transport for the Saturday. I’d say it’s 95% certain to be Sunday lunchtime/early afternoon

If no trains and main south coast trunk road closed one way, what do you do?
Don’t know about previous closure, but is it/should it be a factor?
A27 pencilled in for closure west bound same place every weekend in March!!
They didn't cancel the works on the M25 at jct 11 until jct 9 at 1:00 in the morning for the convoy of cars and coaches returning from Stoke. Added around 30 mins to the trip although best bit was when the coach went down a road labeled 'not suitable for M25 diverted traffic' and got away with a short cut.

Surely the TV companies are already sitting down with maps working out the hardest trips for fans and putting games at times that make away trips very hard.

United have to play on Sunday, City have to play on Saturday - City will be the evening game. Imagine Sheff Utd v Blackburn will be Saturday lunchtime as that’s the fourth tv pick slot. We will be 3rd pick so we will be Sunday afternoon
You’d like to think that the two matches where fans have furthest to travel are on the Sunday -ie, us and the Man Utd game (which, as you say, has to be Sunday anyway).

Best tie for us, but if we're being greedy (and we are) City away to Utd would have been perfect. City will have no trouble against Burnley, and there's a good chance we'll have to beat both Manc clubs to win.
It's a shame West Ham folded tonight. They were one up then missed several good chances.

Assuming we win it would be hilarious if it's city Vs United in the semi leaving us Vs blades or rovers. Then we could finally look for payback after 1983 if United get to the final or to city after the 2019 semi. ( Didn't we go one down in like the second minute?)

I wonder what the Grimsby view on the draw is? They would have been big underdogs whoever they got so would they have preferred a day in Manchester over the less glamorous option of the Albion?

Hopefully Sunday. No reason we cant get the usual 30k attendance. If Saturday and no trains a much lower attendance.
Sunday is Mother’s Day so being very selfish, I would prefer Friday night or anytime on the Saturday.

Edit, it won’t be Friday, when we play Palace on the Wednesday.

Won’t be Friday as we're playing Wednesday vs Palace.
City will be Saturday as they can’t play home same day as ManU who have to play Sunday.
So we’re 50/50 Saturday or Sunday.
I suspect club/police asking for Sunday due to train strike. Sheff Utd vs Blackburn not massively affected by train strike being on Saturday.
