What do you reckon - is it worth winning on Saturday? Out 1st round of the League Cup and JPT, hasn't exactly done us any harm.

I'd like us to get to R3 and draw a mid-table Championship club, just to gauge exactly where we are at.

A premiership day out in R3 would be nice, but more important we give competitive games to our fringe players. If Gus does this and we lose I have no issues with it. Both Argies should start, Sandaza if fit and would also like to see J.Smith and L.Dunk given 90mins.

Since we ought to batter Woking even with our second string, I'd like to see us progress to round three. Seeing as Palace are too shit to be in the Championship next season, it'll be nice to get the chance to absolutely slaughter them at their cow shed of a ground this season instead. 0-5 has a nice ring to it.

A decent cup run could bolster confidence....if thats possible! Sure Leeds took a hit last season but thats not to say we're gonna be the same. Lets go for it I say, the way we're playing it would be good to get a higher team and see if it works against better opposition.

I know I'm in a minority but I'd MUCH rather lose at home to Exeter and beat Woking than the other way round. I think there's an element of double-standards on NSC (surprise surprise) as I've read posts on here before from people slagging off Premier League teams for putting premier league survival over the FA Cup and over the UEFA Cup / Europa League - and yet a lot of those same people want us to 'concentrate on the league'.

Going back to the 'Glory Days' when we got promoted from this division under Mullery we actually came second (to Mansfield). No one gave a toss either then or now; promotion had been the main thing, the championship would just have been the icing on the cake. Also for most of us the three best games that year were the games against West Brom, Ipswich and the first game against Derby. From those three games we got zero league points - but they served an important function. As well as the sheer enjoyment of those matches they went a long way to proving to everybody, fans, players, directors, that we DID have a decent team that wouldn't be out of place in a higher division. Things like the 7-0 win over Walsall were fun, but proved nothing. Going head-to-head with Derby County and matching them gave us all a hell of a lift.

So don't underestimate the pyschological impact of a good cup run. A couple of victories over Championship or disinterested Premiership sides, as well as being brilliant achievments in their own right, will stand us in good stead for next season. Well worth sacrificing a few league points for all that IMO.

And yes, given a choice I'd rather win the FA Cup than get promoted.

Let's see how good we really are. I want Chelsea away

I'd want someone significantly easier than Charlton or Peterborough.

Someone like Palace should do.

Dont want to lose as that could be damaging in itself.

Saying that if offered a defeat and a win at Hartlepool I'd snap it up in an instant.

Pain in the arse this Woking game really

Gus respects the history and traditions of the FA Cup and I quite fancy a couple of trips to Wembley so we should go for it

Thats madness.
I don't want us to lose to Woking, and I'm pretty confident we're good enough to win both anyway. But if we had to lose one and I was given a straight choice, then another 3 points tomorrow night absolutely HAS to be the priority. No brainer.

This sounds like the most reasonable wish here, a day out at a Premiership club would be fun, but maybe a game against a club somewhere around the middle of the Championship would be more benefit in the long run to see how well the team might stand up against someone from the next level.

Leeds, Forest, Millwall, Donny...all of those would be attractive fixtures and guarantee a really decent following from the Albion...plus, size wize, they aren't far off where we are one way or the other.

Exactly. First, you don't disrespect the FA Cup, we are not in the Premier league yet! Secondly, next year we will be playing against far better teams than we are now so it will be a good barometer as to where we are at and possible which players may not be up to playing in a higher league and where we will need to strengthen, if any.
