The average wage in 1908 was £70. A year. That's £1.30 a week. So 25p is 1/5 of a week's wage.

And we have the temerity to complain about ticket prices.

The Maidstone win was entirely unmerited on the balance of play - Ipswich had 38 shots to their 2. But that's why I like the game. If it always went to the stronger team it would be dull.
