I'll not start a new thread (because she's not worth it) but.......Clive Tyldsley? What a drain on my will to live..
Him and Dixon spent five minutes bemoaning the lack of clarity about handball rules over a perfectly obvious 'not handball' decision.
Endless blather about how shit Newcastle were and whether it was due to the interruption of their break, but Fulham have played six games in that period and......Newcastle were not shit.
But the real bit of interest was the comment about when the teams met in 1908 (who gives a tiny f***?), and how the crowd was 45,000 and the gate receipts were £1700. "That's 25 p each!"
He got his data from here:
The average wage in 1908 was £70. A year. That's £1.30 a week. So 25p is 1/5 of a week's wage.
Today it's £650 https://www.ons.gov.uk/employmentan...erageweeklyearningsingreatbritain/january2024
1/5 of that is £130.
And we have the temerity to complain about ticket prices.
I'm not sure what my point is, but if I have to listen to another ITV commentary I may have to burn off my ears.
