Yes they have. So long as the ref considers that he was at least trying to get the ball, then a pen and a yellow is the correct punishment.

No way was he in any position to challenge legally, it was a tackle from behind

Struggle to understand the neutral's interest personally. It's not as though you'd want either team to win.
Absolutely. But which team represents the lesser of the two evils?
Its not like its the oldest competition in football or anything.
That argument would have held up 2 decades ago. But the FA, Man United and the changes to football in recent years have massively devalued the competition.
