So sales of about 500 so far with some already been taken off sale - discounting all the travel issues I think £30 is too expensive for the FA Cup - should have been £20

Really? It's the 5th round of the cup! Do you really think it is an extra £10 that is stopping people going which is quite insignificant after taking into account the travel costs!!

I haven’t said that, but I think for a competition which isn’t that high up on most clubs agenda this has been priced a bit too high

And it's not only the costs (circa £200 for me by train - plus an overnight stay). It's the sheer logistics of getting there and back on a Sunday. Huge respect for those who are going, but for those that aren't I very much doubt it's down to the price of the matchday ticket.

I disagree. In the 5th round means you're two games from Wembley. £30 is nothing really compared to the normal match prices. It's not going to put people off going when compared to the other costs.

But the home tickets will be that. Also, if the game was at home and the club were charging £30 would that be considered too much for a 5th round tie?
Don’t think anyone was talking about home tickets for Geordies :lolol:
£30 is about right I reckon anyway. It’s the transport/timing that’s killed our support.

I think in the cup clubs have to charge the same where as in the league away tickets are capped at £30. Agree about the travel costs affecting people's decisions which is a shame for a knockout game. I'm guessing there are plenty of our supporters who've never been to SJP so it's a good opportunity. Unfortunately due to the short time period between rounds, advance tickets aren't always available. Our train is £106 return each where is we book about 8 weeks in advance we can get the trains for £57!!!

I gambled on it being on the Sunday (was never going to be the Saturday) and booked a flight for £90 before it was announced……over £300 shortly after 🙄

The doris has been bellyaching about having a spa weekend somewhere for a while now, so this works nicely. Driving up early Saturday morning, booked into the Hilton next to Tyne Bridge for 2 nights. She can have her spa and 'treatments' Sunday afternoon while I'm at the game. Meet up later in town for beerage and curry. Head back on Monday.

Yes. I think that's an exceptional plan.

Always the way with flights and makes it more expensive in the Cup. For this game in particular there was effectively only two weeks notice. I wasn’t quite as brave as you Dazzer - when someone posted a tip/guess? on the relevant thread about which day the game might be I scoped out the flight - it was about €90 - I booked it once we knew for certain and it was €110 and it’s now nearly €150. The good thing is though I can do it all on the Sunday so not much different for me to any other game
