The annoying thing is, not only is it a tough draw for us, all the other fancied teams will breeze in to the next round. Only United and Fulham feels slightly interesting.
Agreed. It’s a shame. We’re safe and the club is clearly making a serious stab at going for the cup this year, with strong squads being selected for each round. But the cup karma doesn’t seem to be with us, handing out tough draws for us and safe passage for a a number of our competitors. Pfft!

I hope the players don’t feel beat before a ball is kicked like some of you lot.
Last time we beat them and we had no Minteh running at big Dan Burn. Georgie was only finding his feet, Baleba wasn’t quite the beast he is now Welbeck put his back out early doors.
Should be a cracker of a tie looking forward to it.

They’ll fancy it, but will definitely have an eye on their cup final. Will probably come down to who has the most injuries. They can definitely beat us but we can definitely beat them. The Albion players & management need to fully revisit Chelsea & Forest to prepare, and to appreciate that this will be a (prepare cliche) season-defining game.

They won't be happy with the draw either.

A real, "here's what you could have won" round of 16.

Don't think I can afford to travel to this one, which is annoying.

It is a crap draw but we are capable of winning so let's see. Bournemouth went up there and hammered them and on our day we know we can beat anyone. We did both Bournemouth and Newcastle away already this season so we've got a chance.
Beat them and knowing our luck we'll be away to City in last 8!

Shit draw.

Really shit.

This season is shaping up really well for the 'other 14' but we're not going to be able to take advantage. We've been too inconsistent in the league to maximise the opportunity and now with the cup the draw's really gone against us.

f*** sake.
I really don’t understand this viewpoint. We’ve already beaten them this season, and have a superb record against them in the FA cup.

we had a shit draw in 83. but we beat liverpool at anfield when it was fortress anfield.

Newcastle may be ahead of us in the league, but they have lost seven games and we have lost only 6, which makes them better at losing than us. and losing it terrible in the cup.

and here ends my grasping of straws.

For anyone who was planning on going to the game, it really is the shittest of shit draws. Expensive and rail replaced trains or the world's worst car journey with additional budget for an overnight stay thrown in.

All we need is a really shit Kick off time and a 50 quid ticket to complete the set.

Brighton factually.....
It's not the possibility of winning, I suspect for most, it's the disappointment of not getting and easier or more interesting draw.
I get that, but I look at from the perspective that we could have drawn Plymouth or Cardiff, gone there and field a weakened team or just lost because. Much better to do it the hard way, look at Englands easy routes to the finals....
Newcastle away has been a good hunting ground in the past in several competitions...

Bring it on

Back in the good old BR days when we won 3-1 one ticket between us got us there and it was probably less than a fiver
We used to buy a family rail card with one of us playing dad on rotation and the others being the “kids for a quid” surprisingly never really challenged despite the kids being clearly drunk, we were travelling up north though

Don’t know if there’s still a viable flight option, years back we did Gatwick to Newcastle (for Carlisle away) for £89
return with Flybe. Disappointedly Newcastle to Carlisle on a trains with no toilets took 2 hours each way though!

Just checked looks like only Southampton and Heathrow serve Newcastle international now. You can get a return from Heathrow coming back Sunday for £100 that’s only the start of the costs and hassle

It‘s difficult but not impossible. They wont play a low block which will help. We can do it.

I think it's just disappointing and unlucky to draw two top 6 Premier League clubs in a row. They say you have to beat the best to be the best, but in the FA Cup that isn't actually true. It's a shame that having beaten Chelsea, we couldn't have avoided Newcastle / Villa / City until the Semis.

It is a winnable tie, but they will definitely be favourites.
